that intercooler may work and be "good" , but its hard to judge without seeing a shot of the fin design on it.

also depends on which "eBay" intercooler you are talking about since there are a lot of different companies selling stuff there. "ebay" is not a brand! http://forums.freshalloy.com/images/graemlins/tongue.gif

I asked him repeatedly what the pressure drop across the core is and he still won't answer. Id stay away.

I got a 24x6x3in intercooler from a guy on ebay for $185. It's on the car and works great, its supposidly really efficient up to 450hp, and still ok to like 600hp. If you dont have a massive turbo or something then a big intercooler like that may not be as good. You will get lots of pressure drop from the piping and that huge thing. If you dont plan on going completely crazy eyed then dont get a big intercooler.

Its not the size that counts, its the amount of flow. http://forums.freshalloy.com/images/graemlins/grin.gif

That sure looks a lot like the Hybrid intercooler. Look at the threads welded onto the top and bottom. That Trust graphic is clearly fake.

Edit: Upon closer inspection of the auction, you can see the image has been altered... right where the word "Hybrid" normally appears. I know 'cause I have a brand new one. It's for sale too... PM me if you're interested.

Sorry for the newb question, but what do you mean by that? What should the fin design look like for optimum efficiency. Here's the FMIC I am looking at getting, or one of his other sizes, but same style/design, tell me what you think...and if you could compare good/bad fin design, that'd be awesome...

so are those hybrid intercoolers any good and do they fit in a S13 - anyone have any experience with them?

Is it any better than the XS Engineering Silvia Intercooler?

I don't have experience with the new "Drift/Drag" spec intercooler. Mine has 16 rows, I believe. I don't know if they just removed one row or if they kept the same height and spaced them out a little more. Either way, I doubt there's much of a difference. I know two people that run/ran them. At one point or another both cars had SRs. They sold them with their cars otherwise I think they'd still have them on their cars.

I believe Hybrid makes a front mount kit with piping, but it's certainly not the greatest. In fact, the kit I saw didn't even have mounting brackets, so it's not much of a kit at all really. Fabbing up brackets isn't the hardest thing, but c'mon... it's a kit. The intercooler is pretty large so IIRC you do have to do a bit of cutting no matter what.

Isnt XS Engineering the same as SSautochrome which is the same as OBX?

No. XS Engineering use Spearco cores IIRC. SSA doesn't make intercoolers, they're sourcing stuff out right now, and their exhaust/manifold products are made somewhere other than Asia. OBX is straight Taiwan.

I had planned to get an SR20 a while back and went ahead and ordered an SSA with a t3 flange. It came in an OBX box. Maybe they changed?

Yes. Their newer stuff is all outsourced.

i purchased a hybrid intercooler and it came with everything but the hotpipe and bov and the two silicone hoses to connect the hotpipe to turbo and the rest of the charge piping. it had nice brackets and t bolt clamps, not hose clamps. only 650 shipped

I run one, fits great, 3 brackets, easily made, works well, always ice cold, never notice any kinda power difference on the track from heat soak...but I am also running a t3/t04e @ 8psi, so....not saying much.

I believe that is the same as mine. With the three black brackets. I'll try to attach some links to pics. I have it in a 93 coupe with an rb25 boosting at 12psi.

And this is how I mounted it to my bumper using those brackets.
