View Full Version : 300-350rwhp at 15psi

Most of the conversations that I have seen around here regarding turbos are focused on max power output. I am on the typical quest for the holy grail of turbos. What I want is somewhere between 300-350rwhp, a power band from 3500-7500 RPM, and I want to do it on a turbo that isn't working any harder than ~15psi.

Does such a turbo exist? My largest concern is turbo / engine longevity. That's why I want to run a turbo that is comfortable right around 15psi, and that can hold that boost until redline (~7800 RPM).

300-350 is kinda a broad range but I think I understand what you want... there are plenty of people on this board running Pulsar or S15 T28s who are making 300WHP using a chipped ECU(courtesy of Enthalpy/Scott), some larger injectors (480s or 550s) and a Z32 MAFS... very simple, reliable, and cheap!...

if you are a street/strip/daily driver guy I think this setup is perfect! Only thing is that I think you need to up the boost to around 17psi to make 300WHP unless you have a ton of supporting mods (cams, intake manifold, tubular exhaust manifold, etc.)

Thanks for the quick reply. I have been considering the S15 T28, yet am slightly hesitant because the concensus seems to be that 300-320whp is really pushing it for that turbo. I'm planning on getting some mild cams, but keeping the stock exhaust manifold.

I am definitely a daily driver / occassional track guy. I think that 300-350 in the S13 chassis will be more than enough power to have some real fun with.

forced performance big t28 --little better than a t28 does not work as hard and is capable of more power, and should have the same response-15 PSI should get you where you want to be-You still need the other mods noted earlier of course(chipped ECU, injectors, AFC etc) Your goals and mine are the same I am going FP big t28

haha the real question is how to run this particular set up and still pass smog.

I can get away with anything I live in a state that has very loose laws. they never check smog-If I move I will have to figure something out-so check state laws--If you have an SR chances of it being smog legal are slim to none anyway. So smog should not be an issue But theoretically lower the boost (t28 a stock turbo on some SR's), take the injectors off and replace them with stock ones and set settings to stock you should be good--Obviously it is a little harder than what it sounds like-you will have to take note of all your settings . When I upgrade the turbo I will have a reprogrammed ECU it may not be that easy. I am going to get the speed limiter taken off and just control the injectors off of a S-AFC. Sure it will not run flawless like this with big injectors but it will work pretty good- i have seen it done

will FP28 really can reach around 300rwhp with 15psi??
last time I looked, it has to work really hard to get close to 320rwhp, like 19psi.

i'm just curious.
