View Full Version : Which turbine better for flow?

I have two turbos that i'm going to make a custom turbo manifold for. Both will have a gt35r compressor but i have the option for either a stage 3 t3 turbine wheel with a .82a/r 4 bolt housing or a 69 trim t4 wheel with a tang .58 vband housing. Which will have better flow charactersitics? I am looking for the one that will produce the most top end.

69 trim T4?

T4 turbine wheels in my experience have letter names, like O-trim, P-trim, N-trim, or Q-trim.

Do you know what letter trim the wheel is?

Generally speaking, the T4's are going to have more lag and more top end than the T3's will. However, if the T4 you're talking about were an N-trim, it would be too small. If it was an O-trim, it might do alright. (I used to run an O-trim in an AR.50 housing with decent top end)

Is putting a T3 stage-5 exhaust on it not an option?

Believe 69 Trim would be an O trim. I suspect that will flow more than the Stage 3 T3 in the big housing, but I can't guarantee it. I don't think the Stage 3 wheel is a brilliant match with that compressor - I'd go for the T4 myself out of the two.

Yeah, for top end I would take an O-trim T4 over a stage 3 T3 wheel for sure.
