I am looking into putting a sr20det into my 89 240sx. I would like to do this because it seems the best way to get rid of my automatic trans. and to upgrade the power. I was wondering does anybody know of places that do insstalls in the socal area? I know www.mckinneymotorsports.com (http://www.mckinneymotorsports.com) can do it but is there anybody else? I am going to try to make it down this sunday to check his shop out. Also how much should install cost and how much extra would it cost to have my cars automatic turned into a manuel trans at the time of the swap? Also what other parts would i need to do the swap to a manuel if i was to buy a sr20det from unstable hybrids or anther shop. And lastly is the a good deal http://www.ardperformance.com/store/shop.cgi/page=frameperf.html/SID=1008892875.3685 it is the sr for $2895.95 including shipping. Thanks a lot for all your guys help.

id say mckinney. a lot of shops can do the install, but mckinney sounds the best. i called them up, asked them about 20 questions, guy knew what he was talking about. very knowledgalbe and friendly. and from other people's posts (past threads) mckinney is quality work. their sr was 2300 last timei called. FMIC separate of course. anyway, just dpeneds on how much$$$ you got. dont go cheap, you'll regret it.

sorry not to really give you other suggestions. do a search. i'm sure you can find some old thread that has the info you want.

Or email Marco Vargas (mvargas@keyway.net) and ask him where he got his SR installed.

There are others who have done it themselves who might be willing to help.

Vspec has had the S14 motor in a S13 running back in 1997 I believe. A SoCal member named Harp test drove the car and almost bought it..

Anyhow, just to recap. http://www.freshalloy.com/

I would give Japanese Engine and Repairs a call. They are located in Orange County. They did my swap about two years ago. It was the same situation that you are in. Meaning, my car is an 89 fastback and they converted it to an 5 speed also. When you call them ask for Linh. 714-638-1116 them him you were referred by Reggie.
