I am doing a KA 510 project and am presuming that most people eliminate the power steering on the KA when it is going into the 510. If so how do you spin the water pump, shorter belt? Would it be custom, or is there one that fits from another car?

Hugh? The 510 has no power steering. That is more of a factor than the ka24 having ps. The PS belt does not share the same belt as the water pump from what i remember. or does it? Trun power steering you would need to spend a bunch of time and some money or pay sumone a lot a lot of money to fabricate a power steering rack n pinion on your ka24 510. I rather spend it getting the things you need.

What you will have more trouble with is sometimes even fitting the stock steerring with the way the ka24 is mounted

I have addressed the steering problems, no big deal. I do have the power steering pump off but am pretty sure that it runs on the same belt as the water pump, I will double check tonite.

There is a belt that is the right size to elim the power steering pulley. At Schucks it is a Dayco belt #5030268 and a tight fit.

What exactly are you talking about? Could you make it a little more clear? I know for a fact you are not running PS on a 510. Are you talking about the part # for the water pump belt? The water pump belt # should be found at any parts store.

Yeah, your alt and water pump belt are together. Throw away the PS and AC. Just like the sr20, what was I thinking?

Actually, it's quite simple. Did it to a customer's car once... http://forums.freshalloy.com/images/graemlins/grin.gif

Not really my taste mind you... just sayin'...

Wow. I guess everone that does Power steering gets a custom job because there are no kits. I have heard from Mario at TSR that he has seen some and they were having little issues.

Actually, a power assist rack in a 510 woul dbe quite nice. Even just a regular rack woul dbe nice. I guess I'm just used to running large wheels and wide tires on the 510, but with the additional weight of the V6 & transmission, it shoul dmakes non-moving turns a *****, especially with tight steering... definitely a two-handed, vein-protruding event.
