i purchased this so long ago I don't remember what it is for. it is either a rear engine seal or rear tranny seal, that's all i know. sorry for the stupidity http://forums.freshalloy.com/images/graemlins/tongue.gif

I just looked at the seals on the SR I'm rebuilding and it doesn't look exactly like the one in the pic. If I were to make a wild guess I would say tranny.
What are the dimensions? That might solve this for you.

IT seem small to be a timing cover seal, but.. here some specs.
inner diameter is around 1 1/2 inc -/+ 1/16
over all diameter is 2 1/4 inc -/+ 1/16
this is a S15 tranny seal.
just trying to help. http://forums.freshalloy.com/images/graemlins/grin.gif

looks like a front seal, from behind the crank pulley on the lower timing cover.

agreed, the rear main looks the same too. so yes engine seal.

Rear main seal is much larger than the front crank seal. Transmission rear seal is similiar sized to the crank seal though, so it could be either one.

Looks like either one. You will have to measure it I think.
