Well it is time for new tires. Is it 225's? I plan on getting Kumho Ecsta Supra 712's if that makes any difference in availability.

Thanks,
Alex

I've run 245/45 ZR16 tires on all four corners. There were no clearance problems either. The car looks tranformed from the back when you have this wide of a tire on the back of it.

Did you have any premature/irregular wear issues?
I'm planning on putting Falken Ziex or Kumho Ecsta Supra 712 in 225/50 trim on my SE wheels when I get the fundage for it.

Kevin: haha...4 new lugs. That's cool! I was wondering how how stock S14 SE wheels would look on an S13.

I think I ran a 275(or 255??? Yoko in the rear, it was the biggest yoko had in 16.

But...it looked awkward. Seemed as if the tires were gonna fly off at every turn. The Sidewall bubbled out far...no worries about curbing your rims.
Not recommended in my opinion. The tires wore very quick and each tire set me back about 175.

Personally I would not go bigger than a 225/50 on the S14 rims. The rims are only 6.5" wide. Much wider and you risk having excessive sidewall movement during cornering. This is obviously bad for handling and in extreme cases the tyre could become unseated.

If you want to go for very wide tyres, get wider wheels. For 255/40 width tyres for example, you should be looking at a 9" wide wheel..

One thing about the Kumhos....from my experience, they run a little smaller than comparable tires made by other brands.

i.e...the 225 is more like a 215, and the 245 is more like a 235, etc...so 245 width Kumhos would probably be OK on an S14 stock wheel.

A friend of mine runs Kumho 225/50's all around and they look no bigger than stock 205's...and my 245/45's on 16X7.5's fit really nice.

I would strongly recommend the Kumhos over the Falkens - I had the Falkens in 225/50 for 1.5 years and hated them. My current Kumho's are great, and couldn't be a better value.

What didn't you like about them? wet traction? snow traction? durability?

Wet traction was horrible, dry traction was OK, but not great by any means. They seemed to dry rot or get kinda hard after only 6 months or so, and braking was dangerous once I upgraded to Q45 brakes - I could lock these easily at any speed...

I use them now as drift tires, on my stock wheels...and I've got the option of running them in front or rear, but I prefer my 205 width Michelis in front, and the 225 width Falkens in the rear b/c I find them easier to break loose and drift...

Hope that helps some - Brian

Yeah it does.. I love drifting so I guess I'll pick up a set when i get some spare drift wheels.. The Kumhos were cheaper anyway.. http://www.freshalloy.com/

I am getting some Z32 tt rims for the back in a couple of days. What is the widest tire I can fit on those? The dimensions are 16X8.5
And I still plan on running the Kumho's

Thanks,
Alex
