I am sure a lot of you guys have seen it, but I have started out as a ricer a while ago with a honda, and I love v-tec. Love 510's too. Have you guys seen the s2000 engine witha 9000rpm redline na 6 spd tranny on a 510! Sorry, just feeling a little gitty after 12 beers, and discussing honda with my friend that still does that.

I personally do not like mixed manufacturer engine swaps (Toyota to Nissan, Honda to Nissan). But remember this is my opinion. I would only consider a Nissan to Nissan swap, I love 510's they would have to be in my top 3 favorite cars of all time (sitting next to a 68 Shelby GT500 and a 55 Belair).

i think the Pulsar's SR16DE redlines around 9000...

1.6-200HP

2.0-240HP

which has better power to displacement?

I have my Nissan pride too, but a honda engines will take out any other NA as far as POWERBAND AND PEAK Hp. Dunno if you understand what variable valve lift is, but it is WAY better than just varible vavle timing. And please do not mention the sr20ve unless u have put that engine in a rwd car.

"which has better power to displacement?"
Actully you are looking at peak hp. A sr16de would have really bad low end power and would not be the best for daily driving. Who here has a 6 spd 510? I guess noone here agree's. Personally I love rotary 510's, sr20 or ka 510's, but how many people have a s2000 engine! High compression natrally aspirated 9Krpm variable valve lift.

If crack is green, fuzzy, and stanks delicious, then I am on crack.
I am not biased to manufactures, which can blind you from seeing something good. I would honestly say with all my Nissan pride, the new nissan lineup is not that great.

I know Kevin McKneely had one in his 510 and that was a few years ago.

Im sorry but the S2000's 2.2 liter Vtech is nothing to write home about. 162ft lbs TQ quite frankly sucks, that shows me that there is no bottom end on that car. Sure 240hp is nice, but when your true power band kicks in @ probably around 3.5k, this also holds true with a 0 - 60 time of 6.7 (not very good for a 2700lbs sports car). I also think if the VTEC option worked very well then the TQ numbers would be a little higher. Still an SR20DET would be a much better option for a 510 since TQ is high and HP is only an ajustment away.

True, but I was thinking more of a NA setup with a smoother powerband. It is true the honda engines are a little low on torque at first(which saves a lot of gas), but when the v-tec cam kicks that thing hauls. And it keep on hauling. The torque band does not drop off in high rpm's like the sr20's do, of course u can throw a big turbo on it, but I was thinking of NA. I was also thinking more along the lines of road racing, not drag. Here is the pics of the guy's s2000 engine in a 510. http://www.honda-tech.com/zerothread?id=945476&page=1
I am not saying I would do this swap or I have enough money for it, but it is something to acknowledge.

The dash that was fabbed up looks horrible around the instrament panel, I do like the S2000 start buttons though.

Don't feel bad and don't apologize for thinking or discussing Honda engines into Nissans. It's not like you're worshiping Satan...as some would have you believe.

I've even entertained the thought of S2000 engine into Toyota AE86 and into Nissan S13.

Before the S2000 came out (I believe), Keichii Tsuchiya (aka: Dori King) said that if you could put the Integra Type-R's 1.8 into the AE86, you would have the perfect sports car, in his opinion.

I have seen RX-7 rotary motors put into 510s with great result. If you have the money and the drive, anything can be done.

Don't restrict yourself because some who think the definition of loyal fan is the same as that for closed-mindedness.

Yes, true, but a little banter keeps the blood pumping.
I must admit, I have always kinda wanted to put a Ford Flathead into one of my wagons to make the ultimate hauler....

I've seen the same Ford Engine (whatever small V8 that is...) that they use to make Monster Miatas, stuffed into a tiny Ford Courier (sub-compact mini-truck from '70-'80s)

Had huge slicks under the rear end and sounded cool!

my qr25 with sr20 crank custom rods custom high compression pistons custom cams ported head oversized valves independent throttle bodies and 14k redline would shut down your honda:)

Growing up in SoCal in the late 70's when the 510 craze really hit and I had one. Mine started off L16, then SSS18, then L20B, then a Toyota 3TG and the last engine was a Mazda 1.3B. The MAzda engine was blast to drive, granted you had to rev the crap to get to run fast but it was a blast to drive.

Currently I have a SR20DET in a 69 510 that i had built last year, I guess I'm trying to relive my past, but this new 510 is a blast to drive, the car weights 1800 lbs, and puts 335 RWHP. So far there are a couple of Turbo Porsches drivers shanking thier heads wondering what is up...

Too bad this is not a common swap. If there was a mount kit I would do this swap in a heartbeat. A company is selling the complete swap for 3900 in so cal.
