View Full Version : 510 strut and control arm options

I have been looking at a lot of aussie datsun's lately and they use chasis codes a lot. Anyone know what a 240K is? 180b? 200b? Well, my pt is to find out the strut that can be used for a datsun 510. Can z31 ones work? Anyone know which is shortest? longest?

Has anyone tried using a differnt control arm? I did a real quick measurement on a b210 control arm and it was a little longer. I got that idea from reading up on the datsport sr conversion kit.

Ive heard of someone running 240SX struts, that would open up a whole new ballpark if you can with little modification.

Hmmm, I want to measure my friends' suspensions now. Haha. I don't like the weight of the strut tube with inserts, but the price is good, especially for coilovers. That is if u have a hookup for welding. Anyone know which struts are shortest? Will z31 struts fit?

Hell, I would just be happy with 280zx struts and willwood brakes or PBR's for the 280zx.

I am satisifed too, but there are so many options I am curious on the specs of these conversions. For sure the 200sx, 240z-280z, 280zx. I am not sure about the 300zx or other datsuns. What I was getting too was this. I wanted to find out the shortest struts. I also wanted to to find out which gives u the widest front stance. The 280zx struts actually make the front a lil marrower than 510 sturt. 300zx ones are wider by a little, but I don't know if the struts bolt on, or if they are that short. U could run a 300zx hub on a 280zx strut, but a brake bracket needs to be fabricated. Sorry , kinda confusing and long.

Just wanted to let you know that the 300zx struts do not have the same pattern for the steering to bolt up. Seems like 280zx is one of the best options for USA 510 upgrades.
