Just a thought. The M name, seems came from the old M30 (am I correct) which I dont' even know what is (I think that is what most people think).
The BMW M name is one of the strongest numbers in the auto world. M for BMW stands for power, prestige, the ultimate BMW. Everyone pretty much knows what M stands for.

Will people confuse BMW "M" for Infiniti "M"? Could Infiniti have used another letter? Why not the J, that was a RWD sedan.

Imagine a Infiniti owner telling a person he has a "M" and the person the whole time thinks BMW.

Anyone know what BMW owners think of their letter being used?

I didnt confuse the two, look at how much the Letter Z is used on car models, do people confuse a Z06 with a Z28 and a 350Z ? or a Z8

I would think most INFINITI owners would say i have a M45 instead of just M, and if the BMW owner thinks he owns a BMW instead of INFINITI, who cares http://forums.freshalloy.com/images/graemlins/tongue.gif I guess Ferrari should drop the M designation they use on their Modified models http://forums.freshalloy.com/images/graemlins/confused.gif

As usual, Randy finds the scam. Er, Randy usually perpetuates the scams but this time he Unusually finds someone else's scam. Probably doing in-house research for "An Idiot's Guide How To Scam People." http://forums.freshalloy.com/images/graemlins/wink.gif

But Randy, you're so right though. A real M is a BMW and a real Z is a Nissan.

If you would only say that "automakers should give their cars names and not stupid alphanumeric codes," you'd be right. And that's no scam. http://forums.freshalloy.com/images/graemlins/tongue.gif

Sure, some people would confuse a M45 with a BMW, and some would confuse a 350Z as being a BMW as well. That being said, those people are usually ignorant idiots so we don't have to worry about their opinions.

Oh yeah, people confuse GT-R with Mustangs, G35 with a Hyundai.....

26 letters are just not enough. That's why they should call them names instead of alphanumeric designation. But I still think people would call the Infinitis M35 and M45 instead of M. And the BMW is called M5 or M3 or M4 or whatever, not just M.
