View Full Version : valve imprint on pistons...

i'm asking this question for a friend of mine since i'm not too sure myself. He broke his cams on his redtop sr...not sure how, but he did...HKS too...anyways, three exhaust valves broke...found them in the cylinders when i took the head apart. His block is built...JE pistons, crower rods,...but on 2 of the cylinders, there are valve imprints....not deep but u can see where the valve hit. Is this bad, i'm considering salvaging the block...since it only has no more than 50 miles on it. good or bad idea?

The block should still be fine. The valve guides in your head should be pretty [censored] though. But anyways, do a pressure test or magnaflux on the block just in case to see if you find any leaks. Then you know it's good if you want to do a rebuild or you have proof if you try and sell the block.
