I actually like the sketch. It doesn't look totally weird like the FX.

I think the CX25 will likeky not make it to North America. We are going to get the CX35 instead. There is no mention about the 2.5L VQ. I was kinda hoping that would be the case since this may spinoff into the G25.

Canader could get it, like how they have the Acura EL. http://forums.freshalloy.com/images/graemlins/smirk.gif

Maybe but it will be better if the US gets them too. However, it may be unlikely that NA will get the CX25.

Where did this sketch originate from? Yes, I'm aware that it was in M/T but where did the specifics come from?

Mercedes is going to make a "MLK?" Am I the only one who sees this as perhaps one of the biggest naming snafus in quite some time?

It bothers me. It's bad enough not being able to go to anything vaugely resembling a city and not seeing at least one, if not several, MLK Boulevards...

I mean, great guy and all..but still

Both the CX25 and CX35 were trademarked for the US so most likely both models will be available.... the X3 is available with a 2.5 and a 3.0, so it would make sense.

Agreed!

From what I've read, it appears that both models will be sold here. Nissan feels that the CX25 will be the volume leader in Europe, and the 35 in the States.

I was to understand the CX 35 would have the 280hp 3.5 not a 3.0. In an suv-ette that size, THAT would be the performance was to go. I still think I will keep my Stillen-ized '03.5 6MT! http://forums.freshalloy.com/images/graemlins/cool.gif

Infiniti 'crosses over' from the upmarket move to bring you ... a dinky little sport-cross thing with a measly 2.5 liter engine. Nice. http://forums.freshalloy.com/images/graemlins/rolleyes1.gif

I just read today on Edmunds.com that mazda has a crossover called the CX-7.

Isn't that a little close to CX25 and CX35 considering these will all be crossover vehicles?

A smaller, nimbler SUV to the FX, based off a shortened next gen FM platform isn't dinky. I do think that if a 2.5 is introduced, it should be the 2.5L VQ, making atleast 230HP.

All Infinitis currently have at least a 3.5L engine. This is a downgrade!

It won't be a downgrade if the 2.5L VQ is used and if the performance is there to back it up.

Nissan/Infiniti really have kept their new models secret. This hasn't been seen testing or even been mentioned that often.

Seeing as Infiniti is showing a coupe concept at NAIAS I'm guessing the CX will be shown at NYIAS... http://forums.freshalloy.com/images/graemlins/confused.gif

Also, I wonder if they're going to stick with that name considering Mazda has the CX-7 and rumored CX-5(Tribute replacement) and rumored CX-9. http://forums.freshalloy.com/images/graemlins/blush.gif

Same here... Infinti registered the name like a month or 2 before Mazda but this won't come out till the end of the year the earliest while the Mazda is suppose to be out by late spring early summer. Making the average joe think Infiniti copied...

I say change it to BX or something. Would say JX to get back the "J" but I think Lexus has JX trademarked for their new SUV.

Does the introduction of this mean the possibility of a stretched or more powerful FX with 3 rows of seating? I think to stay competative in the near future it could use a few more seats, even if they are tight. Gaining seats with the introduction of a smaller model is exactly what happened to the X5 when the X3 came in, as well as the Santa Fe when the Tuscon came in, though those two are taking another year or two.

The RX350 will probably get more seats, seeing how the Rav4 does (in a compact SUV, wonder how usable those are :smirk:), and the Cadillac SRX, Audi's Touragg/Cayenne, Acura MDX, and Volvo XC90 crossovers already have three rows.

I'd also hope for a power bump to 335 or 340 hp in the FX45 like the M and Q's have. A stick in the CX models would be pretty nice, as the X3 has a 6 speed.

I think the FX will grow in size and move to three rows, while hopefully keeping it's stance and proportions in check. Both BMW and MB's new V8 are atleast 5L now, and making ATLEAST 375HP. Do you think Infiniti will keep the 4.5L V8 at 340HP for very long...?? I'm very interested in what there response will be with the upcoming Q, and the trickle down effect it'll have on all of Infiniti's V8 models. ;)

The FX will not do three row seating.
You'd have the change the whole car. The rear sloping design just won't allow it.

I haven't really heard anything about the CX. What's infiniti's official stance on this?

5.5L with 390hp

I think Infiniti could easily get 390-400 out of a 5.O L unit. I'd love to see Infiniti really add to the VK, and get a 6.0L V12 around 550HP. Use it in the Q, high performance M, a Q coupe (would be very cool), maybe the QX (though I doubt it), and give it twin chargers for the most powerful GTR ever... killing the SL63 and everything else in it's path.

As far as power trains go, I think it's up in the air now. I it looks like the G will get a 3.7L, and a smaller V6 (around 3.0-3.2L). If that's the case, I don't see why those engine choices wouldn't be mirrored with the CX. Time will tell what happens. The need to do something soon, though. The RDX will be introduced really soon, and Caddy's baby SUV is on it's way.

The VQ25 is the engine that is currently in use in The Skyline 250GT in Japan (VQ25DD). It use to be in the Cefiro too.

That's correct. The VQ25 is a V6 engine currently in use in Japan and other Asian markets. Nissan NA needs to get this over here to use it for Infiniti's CX25.

Both the CX25 and CX35 were trademarked for the US so most likely both models will be available.... the X3 is available with a 2.5 and a 3.0, so it would make sense.

but with the gas prices as they are Infinti may still offer a 2.5l... I think they should atleast, not a 2.5l I4 but the 2.5l V6 used in Japan. It'll offer better gas mileage and a lower cost.
