I have an S14 w/ S13 SR20. My problems started a few weeks ago when I was about to turn off my car. I had been driving for about 30 mins, and I parked and put the car in first gear. All of the sudden the shifter started shaking and my idle became very rough. I tried putting the car in neutral but the shifter wouldn't come out of 1st.

So I come back to my car about 3 hours later, and when I turn it on, everythings fine. About five minutes later, same thing starts happening while I'm driving. This time the car was in 4th and didn't wanna come out of gear. I finally get it back in neutral, but it won't go into any other gear. I've only driven it twice since then, but both times the car is fine until it gets warmed up. About five or ten minutes into driving, I always have the same problem. To get it going I have to turn off the car, put it in second, turn it on, and just drive in second.

The clutch has 9k miles on it and is a ACT HD street disk. I've already bled the clutch system. Where should I go from here?

I doubt it is the gearbox. I would check the bearing and the clutch

same thing happened to me almost two weeks ago. see exedy stage 2 vs. spec stage 3 thread.

pressure plate went. here was my original posting http://forums.freshalloy.com/ubbthreads/showflat.php?Cat=&Board=UBB9&Number=67972488&page= 2&view=collapsed&sb=5&o=&fpart=1

99% of the time, that's clutch hydraulics. Something is allowing air into the system.

try replacing clutch master and slave cylinders, its fairly cheap and you'll probably wnat them eventually anyways.

also a test, put it in 1st and keep the clutch down. rev a few times over about 20 seconds. if the car moves, its your pressure plate. if not, its probably hydraulics.

Well, I still had the clutch dampener on, so I took that off, but now I can't get any pressure back in the clutch lines. The pedal just falls to the floor. I tried bleeding the lines from the slave, and air comes out, but the pedal still won't come up on its own. Is there something I need to do to get pressure back in the lines?

it could still be the hydraulics if your car moves. essentially it's the same as having a weak pressure plate. The clutch will not totally disengage with the clutch depressed...and as you rev the motor the car will move.

If the problem improves with repeated depressing of the clutch...i would be more inclined to buy the hydraulic theory. Unfortunatley i think you ahve a clutch/tob issue.

Are there any noises when this is going on?
