Well we finally did it..we dyno my car last night with the th350 tranny..

537hp at 30 psi and a 75 shot...the number is kinda low, but you have to understand it thru a chevy auto..this tranny is know to eat some serious HP.

Do the benefits outweigh the lost HP? 30 freakin PSI....seems like it should be way higher in the HP dept.

Well...one of the big benefits is durability, which will DEFINITELY be needed if he's drag racing with that much power. Not having to replace transmissions every day + the consistency of an auto = priceless http://forums.freshalloy.com/images/graemlins/smile.gif

WHat converter are you running? your typical 12" converter will chew up about 7-10% more power than a high-efficiency 9.5" converter. if you are running a 10", its almost just as bad... just a little lighter. Swapping from 12" to 9.5" converter on my twin-turbo SBC camaro gave me 48WHP, and Im not spinning the RPMS you are to lose nearly the amount power you probably are.

I have a 9" converter with a 3800 stall..there is no way you cant fit anything much bigger than that under the tunnel. Im using this tranny becasue i broke three stock trannies and a few more clutches...this tranny is built to 1000hp!!!!!!!

hell ya duy. good look on that.

now get out there and run some consistent 10 sec passes and then with enough nitrous, you'll be in the 9s for sure.

oh ya, i'll buy your old tranny's for $5 each. jk lol

Where do you get adaptor plates or did you make one? I have a 700R4 I built for my 700HP twin turbo camaro... but I sold the camaro. Now I have a 383 shortblock and 700R4 leftover.. I dont want to stick the 383 in the 240SX but I wouldnt mind having TH700R4 powered SR20DET.

Did you ever consider a 700R4 or 4L80E? Lockup may be a big help once you get going down the track and slippage>power loss becomes an issue... granted turning sets of planetaries will cost more power than any manual, but it may save 5-8%.
