View Full Version : Coilover Install Help - Have to lower control arm?

Well I'm trying to install my Tein Flex's but at the ride height that I want the coilovers do not fit as they are too long and won't fit in the space betweeen the control arm and shock tower.

Is there a special trick of lowering the contol arm enough to get the coilover in or will I have to dissasemble the control arm and lower it? And if I have to dissasemble the control arm to lower it will I need any specialty parts such as a ball joint puller/pitman arm puller?

Or jack the other side of the car up too.

would i raise it by the other sides control arm or raise it by its jacking point?

i tied some rope around the hub and stepped my foot through it (kinda like having a freind step on the hub)but i still can't get enough height between the control arm and tower mount

how big is the length difference? Is this the front or the rear, you should have the whole end up in the air, if the rear jack it up at the diff and get some jack stands under the car. If front use the cross member.

You'd raise it by the jacking point.

Both wheels off the ground = no problem.
