hi there, am currently building up my sr20det with arp main and head bolts but came stuck when torquing up the main studs, i know it is done differantly for apr studs as there are plenty of threads about it but no info about main stud torque procedure, the manual says 35-39 ft/lb and dooing it a certain angle, just wondered what was the correct way for arp studs

ARP calls for 65 ft lbs on an aluminum head/block with their moly lube.

If you would please read his post again, it says main studs, not head studs.

Back on topic, I torqued my mains down as the factory spec told me and worked just fine. Just be sure to test the rotating assembly afterwards. You should be able to turn the crankshaft by hand very very easily with no binding(make sure to lube bearings). If it has bind spots while rotating, then one or two of the studs were tightened a tad too much. Loosen them all and do it over again. I've tested with a torque wrench after using an angle wrench, and it seems they are torqued to about 53-58ft/lbs.

so torque up and then turn to 75-80 digreese, loosen torque then turn 45 - 50 digrees

Yep you got it, just remember to check by rotating crank by hand.
