So I am going down a hill yesterday and all of a sudden my cars looses power, then finally dies. Take out the Ecu and check the board to find the line going from pin 36, (ign on) is burnt up. What could have caused this checked all my grounds and there is no evidence of any other wires being burnt, no fuses busted. there are a few wires hanging of the ecu but nothing exposed. I searched and this sounds like somewhat of a common problem just want to avoid frying the ecu again after I rework it. thanks in advance.

I had the same issue and had no idea where it came from. No loose or open wires, no shorts on the wiring harness... I think that big capacitor might have arced across or something, but otherwise I have no idea why it happened. That ECU was only in the car a month, the previous year and a half on the other ECU, the other ECU never had an issue, and still hasn't had an issue. http://forums.freshalloy.com/images/graemlins/crazy.gif
