So I fly home from Germany to do my swap, and I have failed. http://forums.freshalloy.com/images/graemlins/frown.gif I did my best to plan out everything but, I didn't account for how difficult it would be to route the intake piping, I ordered two 45 degree aluminum pipes but, it seems, 90 degree bends are needed to clear the power steering, so that was my first let down...the other issue is the drive shaft, I had one custom made for the ABS VLSD I installed and I went to bolt it up, and it's about 2 inches too short, I compared it to the stock driveshaft and it's only about 3/4" shorter, to compensate for the extra length of the ABS LSD, and it appears the stock one would also be too short. http://forums.freshalloy.com/images/graemlins/confused.gif So, I have no clue as to what is the problem. Here are pics of the fitment, with the opposite side pictured fully seated. Driveshaft measures 46" from tip to tip and 38 1/4" from center of joints, car is an S13 with SR20.

The motor is in the car and was only waiting for the harness to be connected, the intake and intercooler pipes to be hooked up, then have the driveshaft installed but, it wont happen by me deadline to go back to Germany. Needless to say, I am pretty upset right now but, I took on alot of work by myself with only 1 week to do the swap. Oh well, it will get finished somehow.

Any insight on the driveshaft issue would be really helpful!!

Thanks,
Rodney

S14 driveshaft maybe? Hell, that looks like it's several inches too short.
I'll measure an OE and Enjuku aluminum one tommorrow for you, I have both accessible.

That would be great, and you would be my hero!!

The strange thing is the company that made it replied to my e-mail and instucted me to measure the joint to joint distance and confirm it was 38 1/4" which it is, and now I'm more confused.

Maybe I have a special "limousine" edition S13...I guess that would explain the wet bar in the backseat. http://forums.freshalloy.com/images/graemlins/wink.gif

Another pic to illustrate correct shifter placement...

I'm still in the dark on this one a little, if anyone else can help me out I'd appreciate it.

Was your car an automatic before the swap? When I picked up my '97 Ka i got all the left over crap from thier SR swap, including an Automatic tranny and drive shaft. The Automatic drive shafts (on an S14 anyway) are a different length than the manual ones.

No sir, it's always been a manual. http://forums.freshalloy.com/images/graemlins/confused.gif
