Can anyone tell me what kind of spoiler is on it and what color it most likely resembles? Just for the hell of it I bought a dirt cheap good bodied 240sx that I'm going to convert to look just like the Sil-Eighty from Initial D.

i think is this one that sam @jspec used to have on his 180 http://www.freshalloy.com/images/imported/2002/01/jspec_1628_65420087-1.jpg http://www.freshalloy.com/images/imported/2002/01/jspec_1628_65450386-1.jpg

don't know what kind of wing is it...but you can ask him..

it also looks like Benson's Wangan wing
http://www.freshalloy.com/images/imported/2002/01/dramatical-1.jpg

and the color is blue... http://www.geocities.com/japanese_model/Pictures/sil80d.jpg http://www.geocities.com/go2idpg/Pictures/sil80b.jpg

however, you need two cute girls in there too...hehehe

theres no such spoiler... its kind of a cross breed between a b-wave style spoiler and a wangan spoiler like mine.

in the cartoon, the spoiler is flat and sharp like the b-wave, but is short like mine. it's just a cartoon, not real life!

the bomex one is different. it hangs way out further than mine. the bomex one probably hangs out and lines up with the rear bumper.

As long as it looks close enough to the one from the Anime I don't care... the bomex one is probably the one I'll go with.. it looks close enough to it and it is very attainable... Now, I plan on repainting the whole car the same color as the Anime one... what brand color do you guys recommend? Like a purpleish blue? Any specific dupont or whatever color names?

why don't you take the comic book to the paint store and put it under that paint color scanner thing?

after all, that's the only place that color exists. the car is a drawing, be it CMYK printed in a comic book or RGB on your video monitor, it's not a real car or color - you can make it real, make up your own color with the paint scanner and call it what you want.

oh yeah one more thing: you need to find a NISSAN S13 SILVIA AERO BUMPER. and that's no easy task - for some of us anyway.
oh yeah, and the girls too, you need the girls because the ae86 guy already looks like takumi he's got that part of the conversion covered.

i recommend going with PPG paint. sure it'll cost more than your average paint, but with the money you'll be saving by doing it yourself, it wont hurt too bad.

as far as color codes go.....i'm not sure which would be the best match. with all the colors to choose from you should be able to find something similar

benson, how long has your car been a sil-eighty?

really, this topic is kinda funny, i guess i could say i have had a one-via since 1998, but that would be dumb. Oh well, i like the factory look, Silvia with silvia front end.

actually we didn't plan on making ours look like the initial D 240. It just turned out that way. T.Y. the turbo is a T300 made in Europe. It's pretty big. We'll have the new nismo 740 injectors in and will get it tunned soon. I'll post it up as soon as I can.

So how's it running with the upgraded turbo, are you still bouncing off the boost limiter or did you solve that problem?

my car has been a sileighty for 2 years... and my car looks nothing like the initial-d sileighty!! i wasnt a big fan of initial-d back then, and the fact that the initial-d sileighty existed had no impact on me deciding to make my car into a sileighty. i did it only because i wanted to make a cool drift car (that drifts).

anyway i hate that thing... i mean, i think it would be cool if people didn't want to imitate it so much... it's just a cartoon! this is the same reason why i dont like ae86's very much anymore... because everybody is buying them because of takumi. dont make a sileighty because you want to look like initial-d! i dont enjoy drift look-a-like cars that do just that... look like it.

I may be out of the loop...but what is/was initial d? Why are so many people crazy over it?

Shin

I still don't understand how Initial D got so popular.. I'm hardcore into anime so I knew about it since 1997 when the only way I could see it were copies of tapes with no translation whatsoever... I never thought it would be this big. I was also and am still into Toyotas having owned an MR2 and I remember no one on club4ag ever hearing about it until recently. I want to do the Sileighty conversion just for the hell of it.. no one in my town has done anything like this...and yes I do drift.. we have a rather large group that goes drifting on the weekends

I hadnt heard of it until I was on the 240sx.org chat list. and it wasnt untill recently I actually looked into finding it. from what I have seen its a pretty good anime. and I like all kinds of anime. I like the blend of computer animation and traditional would I buy a car just to be like it ....no but cool cars are cool cars wether in real life or in anime.

see, it just got popular recently, that's why i say before the "hype", so you shouldn't be asking if he had the sileighty before 95, you should be asking if he had it before recently

i know you're just trying to start trouble.

I'm not trying to start trouble I just asked some simple questions... And not "everybody" is imitating the Sil-Eighty.. there's what like 3 or 4 in the U.S? There's more Skylines in the U.S than Sileightys.

i'm not teaming up on you with hypercarrots, but your question about me having my sileighty since 1995 seemed to have a sarcastic tone to it.

and i never said that everybody is trying to imitate the initial-d sileighty. but i do get emails quite frequently about people wanting to make an impact blue sileighty like the one in the cartoon. it bugs. i made my sileighty because i wanted to see an american sileighty, that i made, drifting - not because i want to look like it can drift good. do you understand?

people can do what they want... but i dont have to agree with it. it gets annoying after awhile. put yourself in my shoes and imagine getting emailed around 4 times a week hearing something like that... and yet a little over a year ago, very few people even knew that my car was a nissan. this whole internet drifter/initial-d thing is getting quite out of hand.

hypercarrots
01-24-2002, 06:41 PM
okay, that's fine... anyway there are a lot of sileighties in LosAngeles - i've seen 4 and there are at least 3 black ones alone in CAlifornia. there are more likely 15 or more total in the US.

Who cares why people want a Sil-80?

Ever since I was in 10th grade(about 5 years ago) I've wanted a 240 fastback. I fell in love with the one my friend had(tried to buy it from him a few times) and have love them ever since. The first time I saw Initial D about 1 and a half to 2 years ago I fell in love with the Sil-80 and didn't even know what it was. Me and my friend were watching the show one night and I said "Damn, that's a beautiful car! What is that?" and he said "You know the car you like so much? Well, that's it with a front end like Iketanis car". I didn't even know it was a Nissan.

I wanna Sil-80 b/c it's different, and looks beautiful.

Don't know how much better a Sil-80 would drift better than a 180. Could someone explain that?(not trying to be a smart ass, I just want to understand things about my car better)
