View Full Version : Tach wire KA --> SR

I just replaced my '89 gauge cluster w/ a cluster from a '92 s13. The "tachometer signal output" ECU pinout 3 is not connected up...it is cut about 2 inches from the ECU. What wire do I connect this up to from the back of the gauge cluster/tach??? Is there an easier way to hook this up than to tear apart my dash (again), it's a major *****.
Also, what are the cross reference for the SR speedo sending unit..I belive mine to be bad, will a KA work? SOHC or DOHC?

Dvae, the Tach signal is provided through a dash interface plug right above the ECU. It is behind the glove compartment.
Have a look there...
The tach wire is red/yellow. Make sure you have that connected.
Check the wiring at www.srswap.com (http://www.srswap.com)

Good luck

Thanks! yes the tach lead wire off the ECU is yellow/red. I'll check there tomorrow morning.
Anybody need an SOHC '89 gauge cluster before I put it on ebay?

Ok i poked my head back there and found a white wire harness. There is not a yellow w/ red wire, but instead: red w/ green, green w/ red, green w/ white, and yellow w/ green.
Is this the right harness tah you are talking about? Which color would it be?

Success! Ok I went to take another look, and in the bundle of wires at the ECU, there was a convenient cut yellow wire w/ red stripe. I hooked it up and now my tach works! What is the best idling speed for the SR?
