I recently bought a greddy intake manifold for my SR, and im curious as to whether or not ive recieved a real intake, or if someone has swapped parts on me. This was purchased from a reputable shop, so i doubt its the case, but from the pics ive seen of the inside of the greddy intake and the inside of the fakes.......this one seems AWFULLY questionable on the casting.

i would Greatly appreciate it if anyone can post pics of the inside and bottom side of their real or freddy intakes. and i'll take pics of this one later today for comparison and post them up.

also, are there any known specific casting marks or numbers inside or outside on the GReddy intake?

greddy rectangular plate? There is a real one on the basic section from a gt35r car for external comparisons.

all the fakes I've seen do not have a spot casted for the GReddy logo to go on.

The real ones have a rectangular box for the greddy decal, the replica ones are all blank.

I thought the fakes still had the spot cast on them for the plaque.

i have yet to see a replica with the spot for the greddy badge

hmm....then i overestimated the quality of the greddy casting. My part came in a GReddy box, but no paperwork of any kind, and no plaque. http://forums.freshalloy.com/images/graemlins/confused.gif

The fakes do have the spot as well. I got duped a long time ago on one that was an obvious fake. the seller just didn't tell me until after i received it when i asked him where the greddy logo was for it. How could i tell? when i installed it there was a vacuum leak since the casting was poor as heck.

i dug up some pics online and saw the fakes made both ways. the topspeed one in particular does not that ive seen.

I've seen some fakes on eBay with the rectangular section cast in for the badge.

Isnt the interior of the plenum very rough on the fakes as well?

the quality of the greddy isnt exactly what you would expect coming from from greddy. Very rough and far from perfect. Cast parts are never very nice looking anyways.

I disagree with that, I have seen one of the generic versions in person (maybe the quality of the generics varies) and the casting was ALOT more porous than the Greddy I have. The inside of the Greddy still has some casting marks which are unavoidable but, less than that of the generic version even the outside of the Greddy I have is very smooth, overall the casting from what I have seen is ALOT nicer.

**edit** Here i s afew pics I have of my Greddy, sorry I don't have any better ones to show but, the ones of the IACV do a good job of showing the casting.

MUCH nicer ports than mine but I still think its a fake. Who sold that one. It looks like the nicest fake I have ever seen.

Did it come with the greddy badge?

My Freddy doesn't look anywhere near that good. Plus it doesn't have the plate spot... Why doesn't it have the Greddy plate though? Do they not actually come with the plate?

I'm not really sure because I don't have a Greddy to compare to, but all I can say is my Freddy looks HELLA worse than that...

My bootleg freddy manifold doesn't look anywhere close to as nice as that. Did it not come with the fitings for the vacuum lines??

i can almost guarantee that it is a real Greddy. Even though that piece of casting looks like doo doo ...the exterior casting is MUCH better than the knockoffs i have seen.

Looks identical to the one i bought. Go install the fittings and see how strong the material is. When i installed the fitting for the brakes the threads came out. I would suspect that is not a greddy however. The greddy's that i have seen in person will far better. Then again with enough sanding you can polish anything...

Anyone with a greddy oil pan can attest to the fact that greddy does not have the best of castings. The casting of your manifold is on par with the greddy that I had on my s14 SR.

still no definitive answer......damn. haha

it did not come with the greddy badge....but it was in a greddy box, with a bag of greddy hardware. other parts were sent in the same box, so its not like it wouldve been difficult to just take the real one out and toss the other in.

does the greddy badge come stuck on the manifolds already?

My Greddy badge came stapled inside the "manual" in a small little ziplock bag. I think I read you did not have a manual...which is why you probably don't have a badge.

+1 on this statement. My Topspeed was ridiculous compared to the casting of yours on the inside. Night and day difference. I definitely believe you have the real deal, no doubt.

I just got mine in the mail last week, my badge was also stapled to the manual. Looks like the same quality mine is and mine was shipped directly from greddy so I think chances are you got the real deal minus the manual/badge.

that casting looks a little rougher on the outside than my greddy one. like someone else said, the manual has the greddy emblem stapled to it on the inside. although why theyd leave out the real evidence that it was a real greddy manifold, i dont understand

either way, both manifolds do the job. ive yet to see a comparison dyno between the freddy and greddy so who knows. maybe lace into the seller a little bit to see if you can catch them slippin. give us all the info he says and we can match it up.

i still have mine sitting in the box exactly as it came, if you have any questions or want me to snap some pics

im not worried about any power difference between the two.....im sure its minimal. i was worried about possible problems with a ****e casting and being charged an extra $250! if i knew the freddy manifold would work 99% the same as the greddy, without fail......i wouldve bought it and saved myself the money.

i guess im just gonna call up the shop i got it from.....get them to dig me up a badge for it, and bolt it on.
