I am looking to see what an ideal daily-driven 510 would be. I am looking for a 510 with KA (preferred). Does this sound reasonable, as far as daily driving goes? I will be driving about 80 miles a day.

Thank you
Chris

wow 80 a day?
i think if you setup the suspension as for daily driving with a KA it would be a great car with some go. look for good seats i heard that he seats from the 95 - 99 max fit in the 510 great and im mean the seats for the front and rear.

It really depends on what your definition of "daily driver" is. Pros: You could have a heater as one of your luxuries. It will get good gas mileage, and good torque
CONS: No ps, no ac, no power doors or windows, bad weather sealing unless you restore that. How are your guys' defoggers working?

I daily drove 3 different 510s. You'd need to put a lot of money and time into just about any 510 to get it anywhere near comfortable. At this point a 510 is about 35 years old. The weather seals are going to be shot. The windows are going to rattle around. The interior is going to suck. It's going to need a headliner. The seats are going to be shot. Lots of luck finding the rear window latches.

510's are at the point where the only reason a person will sell you one is because it's a project that they can't finish. Anyone with a nice 510 is holding onto it... or wants a lot of money for it.

why the ka and not a qr?

Because unless someone just pulled one out of a new Fronteir, there isn't a RWD transmission for it.

yes there is a transmission for it - it's called the ka's tranny - two main bolts line up to the block/tranny and the rest of the bolts holes can be drilled out on the trans side - it's been done

I dont know if a 510 would make a good daily driver, but then again, when I was young I had a 510 in San Diego back in the late 70's to early 80's.. I missed that car so much I rebuilt one last year, mine is a 69 I have a SR20DET engine and tranny from Japan in the car, the weights about 1800lbs and about 335HP to the RWHP. WHen it drive it, it reminds me why I love this car...
