What is the difference between 69 struts and 280zx struts? I know the 280 struts are shorter than most 510 struts but aren't the 68-69 also shorter. I bought my 71 with 69 struts on it, is there a good reason to switch them to 280's?

280ZX struts have larger spindles with larger wheel bearings, but most use them because they facilitate the use of the 280ZX brakes, an economical and simple brake upgrade that doesn't fit the 510 struts.

pro's: 1" shorter than stock 510, 10"vented, big single piston
cons: angle is different so camber plate is recomended, not as wide track width as stock 510

I did the 280zx brake upgrade on my old 71 wagon and DAM did that thing stop, with such a light car it out braked anything I have ever driven. Talk about stopping on a "dime" rofl... sorry...

The other problem with the 280zx strut swap is that the spring perches will not work with 510 spring and vice versa, so since you will be cutting them off anyway its a good time to do a coilover spring setup, I went with kyb inserts and and a set of "CHEAP" slip on coilovers meant for a honda accord, worked beautifully together. If you want ultimate lowering, you can use rabbit "performance" inserts and a little chop of the strut housings with a spacer so you dont have to chop TOO much out.
