I found a great price on a S15 engine and tranny complete. I am considering purchasing it, but all I need to know is, is the S15-to-S13 SR swap complex, or is it as simple as the S13-to-S13 SR swap? The guy selling it to me states that the S15 should be a direct bolt-in just like the S13 SR swap. Is this true?

ive heard wiring can be some what of a pain, better know what your doing..

give mckinney motorsports (ca) or heavy throttle (ny) a call, they are very knowledgable, probably have done it too..

S15 into a s13 chassis could a bit tricky.
Make SURE you get the rear end as well. The speed sensor is there, so if you don't have that...you will have no speedo or VTC.
Bummer...

Oh and about that Speed Sensor post. All you really have to do is put the speed sensor off the KA Tranny on the SR Tranny. It tells you about it in my link

I use to own that car in the article.
It's a S13 motor.
There are a few people we know of that are stuck on the S15 swap one of them is ricky chu.
He's running S15SR20DET with S14 5 speed tranny and S14 power fc to solve the problem.
Brian is runnning around with his S15 SR20DET swap in his white 98, but he can't tell how fast he's going because he's waiting for the diff.
You'll also need the driveshaft from the S15.
Good luck,

Sam

oh but to get it back on topic... you will need the rear diff's from heavythrottle.com aka srswaps.com.......(hey yury and jeff which name do you guys preffer anyways)

the wiring i'm sure is going to be the most difficult. there is a member right now attempting the s15 into s13 swap. he posted his s15 seats picture a few days ago so maybe you can try the search option and pick his brain

Yes the wiring is a pain. I did Brians S15 swap and it was not fun. He is running a complete S15 set up. Motor, tranny, harness, turbo, and ECU all S15.

We are hoping to get the rear end soon to finish the swap.

I hope he likes the car now.... hehehehe

The car is running great now Grumpy. I had some little issues with the BOV but Sam from jspec.com helped me out. It turned out to be something really simple. S15 LSD is suppose to arrive on the 20th. It's a bit hard not knowing how fast you're going.

hi,
yes i believe that the s15 should drop into the s13 pretty easily. i sort of "figured" all the important wiring (no ac and such) by backwards probing the engine and chassis harness...but b4 i do any plug in, i will verify with a s15 electrical manual.
a couple issues though.....the s15 drive shaft will be needed b/c its shorter for the longer 6spd tranny and the slightly longer diff. also, the front u-joint on the axle seems to be different and the "rear oil seal extension" on the tranny also seems to be different from the s13/14 variety. again, the s15 diff will be needed as the speed sensor is in it.......i do have a couple extra s15 diffs coming from japan. otherwise everyting seems to be standard sr stuff.....appears to be a bolt in.

We will have the swap done in about 3 weeks.
The wiring will bo done as well with the s15 electronics.
We do have the diff and all other required parts.

I'll post more when we get some work done on it.
Right now, we have the s14 wiring figured out to the last wire, so with the s15 FSM, it should not be too difficult.
