Another question for you 240 gurus out there... i just bought a 90 240coupe stock everything and the mpg is bad http://www.freshalloy.com/ . How in the world can i get better milage??? I tried replacing the 02 censor but still get the crappiest milage... like about 12-15 mpg http://www.freshalloy.com/ . I heard something about the ecu... what do i do to it to give me better milage...? Or are there other things i should replace? Any input is appreciated. Thanks

spark plugs, spark plug wires, distributor cap and rotor, run some chevron supreme fuel for awhile if you can (I gained 2mpg from 20 to 22 on my 89), resetting the ECU (for codes) is on the 240sx.org faqs page, resetting it completely requires leaving battery unplugged for ~24hrs.

Also, it could be various seals etc going.. do a compression test, or better would be leakdown, but compression is easier to DIY.

1) Is your check engine light on? If so, there's your answer.

2) If you dont have a check engine light on, then you're best bet is to replace all the common wear parts, as listed above.

3) Drive softer. I drive hard and get as little as ~200 to the tank, to as much as ~300 to the tank. It all depends on how I drive.

Kinda off topic but 240's are ODB 1 right? How do I get the car to flash the trouble codes to me?

You cant, you have an SR20VET http://www.freshalloy.com/

Pop off the lower right kickpanel, the ECU is there..
