I was just wondering how does everyone feel about Autobaccs coming to L.A.. They said it should be open by Spring.

I feel it is great that we will have a real Import supershop here in the states. A lot easier to get some parts out of Japan now. I only hope they do not do like the rest of the Japanesse company's and only bring in Honda stuff. Don't forget about us Nissan people.

AS a shop owner, I am also feeling good about this move. But I am not in L.A.. If it was going to be in San Diego I might worry. Kind of like a Wal-mart moving into town and taking over. But I also don't do alot of retail, aminly installs and custom swaps.

I would like to hear what everyone thinks about this new player in the game......

Awesome, sounds like sourcing for Bride, etc could get much easier...

I could just imagine some insanely overpriced car freshners and light bulbs. With the ower driving some nice 240sx or Skyline or something. (ofcourse, the owner wouldn't share his goods, because he won't think there would be a market for it)

Of course the owner would be driving something nice, he would still be in Japan... Autobac is a big automotive retail chain, similar to Pepboys, but actually does performance part installs. Since they already have the venues for merchandise, they could possibly have better pricing that many places.

Now if they'll sell crate JDM engines like Pep Boys does for some domestics.. bwwahaha

I was in the store in Osaka a month or two ago. That place is amazing. Wal-mart for car nuts is the best way I can describe it. I think it will depend on what they decide to sell here in the states, like Grumpy said. If they only carry the stuff that is currently available here with out an importer, then it will be a waste. But if they offer a comparable line up to their Japanese stores then that store will be great! I think that some of the local importer operations might not be too happy about that news though.

However I do hope serve better food in the "lookers American 50's style cafe" if they keep it in the Cali store. That was the worst hot dog ever http://www.freshalloy.com/

I think it was going to be in Glendale. It is in the newest "Stupid Street".

I hope they stay the way they are in Japan. I love the ones I go to in Tokyo and Okinawa. I miss those shops so bad.

I think it will be good for everyone to have them here. Even other shops should be glad. Now we (Shops) will be able to get parts easier and in return, be able to provide a better time frame for cars being worked on. Always trying to keep the customer happy... hehehehehhe

I fully support Autobacs in the US, but from what i have been told it is only coming as a Service Shop and maybe some retail.

By the way, Bride is in the US (tees-usa.com) so sourcing Bride is easy already. As far as most Japanesse Improters in th US, if you look in the right places you will find alot of Japan is in the US already.... Yashio Factory, Kazama, URAS, Kei Office, Garage Defend, etc etc... most of these companies have official Impoters in the US already.

Autobacs will be in high demand when they finnaly open shop, and just because they are a Big Company, dont think they cant fall behind and get over loaded with orders.

Take JUN and GP Sports-NA for example, both came to the US expecting to meet the demands of our market and failed.

like the Sports Mart of auto tuning. Wow that place does look sweet. Not as bad as we all thought. Would be nice to go look at seats and test sit unlike mailordering and guessing.

Those pictures make me feel all warm and fuzzy inside.

And it only took a year and half for it to almost be ready to open http://forums.freshalloy.com/images/graemlins/tongue.gif

Badass.... Something to make me feel more comfortable about going back to the states in six months... at least there one place to go to order whatever at high prices... Autobacs is always more expensive in their catalogs than anywhere else.

I can honestly say that GP Sports failed not solely because of US distributorship, but because of a combination of many factors that should be equally blamed on both US and Japan.

But I cannot say anything beyond that.

it would make soooooooo much sense for them to rush and open by the D1GP weekend, and i would definitely go check it out that weekend.
