Looks great! For the areas that aren't red, did you just sand off the red and polish? I am trying to decide on whether to polish the whole thing or do something similar to yours.

Thanks.

Also for those who want to paint their valve covers differently. Summit Racing sells wrinkle finish engine paint in different colors.

what is a "wrinkle finish"

A wrinkle finish will produce a slightly rough surface much like the stock SOHC valve cover surface. It almost feels like worn out, heavy grit sandpaper to the touch.

Did you first take off the black coating that comes from the factory, then paint? If so, how did you do it and how difficult?

Thanks.

yep took it down to bare aluminum..took along time..used a mini die grinder with stainless brush attachement...

then degreased....
then used foiltec 2 part epoxy paint...4 coats
then removed paint from raised portion, and polished it on polishing wheel
then stuck on STR oil cap...maybe i should hve got a polised aluminum one?
