...or if you have one yourself. I want an extra valve cover so as to have it polished. I can't afford the down time of the car if I was to take off the one I have on mine to have it polished.
If anyone can help me onthis it would be appreciated...thanks.

Bill

Not a problem Humminglow..if I get my hands on an extra one and get itpolished, I'll just sell you my old one if you'd like.

Driftdan: I was going to swap with them, but they both need onw with a rough finish so as to powdercoat it (or paint it...forgot which). Mine has already been tried to be polished by me and I gave up so most of the cover is still really smooth...not polished....smooth:)

I gave up on it...I'm weak...hehehe

Mine is still stock finish. I think thats what you mean by rough.

Got mine from a junkyard for $20. Polishing quoted at $50 but i'm too cheap right now. I did it by hand and it's.. aight.

I'm envisioning a worldwide "chain letter" type deal, whereby every 240 owner on FA winds up with someone else's valve cover, thus inexorably linking us all together for life. And we'd all be driving happily with painted/polished/powdercoated valve covers http://www.freshalloy.com/

Ok, maybe my imagination is too rampant. But if someone out there winds up with an extra cover for an S14, put me on the list...

The valve cover I need has to be off of an S14...forgot to mention that:)

Senna.....good asperations, but don't expect it to happen...haha

So what do you guys think...should I polish it or powdercoat it black and paint the letters white?

I'm powdercoating the 300z callipers black and doing the lettering white...I'm thinking the valve cover matching would be neat:)

When I get the valve cover for my s14 I'm gonna have it painted red to match the exterior and then have the Nissan name either polished or painted silver. Can't wait I just need a spare valve cover to have worked on so I can still drive.

I supppose I could start calling junkyards, etc. If I do find one, I'd start the S14 chain. It's not worth it to me if it's more than $20.00 or so; I'd charge that plus shipping for my old one.

By the way, anyone know what the proper gasket material is? I know Courtesy sells some premium Nissan brand stuff, but I'm sure Permatex or someone else makes a generic equivalent- I just don't know which one is best...

i actualy have fun polishing engine parts.. i dunno, like on my ka24e i took my cover off and stripped off the paint, and sanded that thing for like 6 hours, then polished it for another 3

not at one sitting mind you, but i dunno, theres a satisfaction you get out of a nice looking engine bay you did yourself. i used a dremel to sand btw

I have an extra valvecover from my 95. I had it powdercoated the factory burgandy color that the car is. If anybody wants it just email me direct at ChrisVC@executivecleancar.com and make me an offer. I'll ship it for free. It's in good shape, you can see it in this link pretty good http://www.executivecleancar.com/240/MyCarCommon/TurboClose.jpg
