Audi's trump card might be:

In the Audi's case, it's mated to an S Tronic transmission with both full automatic and manual (paddle-shifted) modes. The S Tronic (aka DSG in VW-speak) is a wonderful manumatic transmission system.

Damn someone already beat me to this, I was about to start a thread about this. This thing is UGLY IMO. If this is what Audi will be putting up against the EX then I'm not too worried. The exterior has very weird angles and a body shape that doesn't seem to flow very well like the EX does. The interior is flat out ugly, it too doesn't flow very well, esp. in the area of the center stack. I agree the DSG is a great transmission, but Infinitis system being used in the G and M has been praised to high heaven as well. A 2.0L blutech engine pumping out 204hp vs Nissan's 3.5VQ 290+hp.... HA no contest, VQ for me please. I dunno how close this is to production, but I do know Audi still has a lot of work to do on this one. Oh and one last thing, anyone else notice on the rear license plate there's a "swoosh" mark drawing similar to the Infiniti "Line has been drawn" hahaha c'mon Audi... try harder next time ok.

Good eye. I had to double-check to catch that last one. As for the vehicle overall....it ain't too bad. But just the difference in power already puts it at a HUGE disadvantage.

Hmm...not so sure about that. The 2.0L Bluetec TDI pumps out 295 lb-ft of torque while the VQ pumps out 268 lb-ft. So, in a 0-60 sprint, this might actually post better times than the EX if it's lighter while getting 40 mpg in fuel consumption.

Looks sooo nice
Thanks for the post
If it priced similar to EX it might be a problem for Infiniti

If this the concept of Q5 (coming in 2008), the EX will have a very strong competition...

It's rather nice from most angles except the side profile... strange, since that's the one angle where most cars look the best.

I agree, the C-pillar seems too steeply raked and makes it a bit unproportioned. If Audi made the angle a little less steep, I think it would look really nice. Funny, it would look like the FX albeit with more pronounced creases.

I'm with ya. I like every angle except the rear. If 40mpg were a reality, this would be a very appealing vehicle.... if the price is right. The Q8 is way overpriced IMO, so they better keep this one under 40k to be competitive. What about the grille on this thing though. Reminds me of :caged:

This Audi Roadjet concept from 2 years ago was a better looking crossover.

Lots of junk in the trunk, if you catch my drift. And oh man, can Audi do interior. Look at those leather seats.

It's odd, it looks like the they cut off the rear for no real reason. Seems to me it could have been less raked, and would look better and have more storage space.
In general, it looks terrific. I was surprised to learn that the Q7 is actually pretty much the same price as the FX, so it's possible this could be price competitive with the EX. If we get that diesel over here, this could be a very appealing vehicle.

Audi is putting out some beautiful cars. I sat in an R8 the other day, awesome. Is that supposed to be Dubai in the backroung....when it is finished that is.

In the second photo it's Shanghai. The tall building with the globes is the Oriental Pearl Tower.

I've liked Audis for a long time now. If only they could get rid of their image of having reliability and electrical issues. IMO, they have the best cars out of all the German manufacturers in terms of styling, quality (interior and fit & finish) and overall performance.

IMO Audi's are not even close to bmw's performance. However audi's exterior and interior styling along with there fit and finish are considerably better than bmw.
