2 of my SR coils have gone bad and the harness is a pile of **** that severly needs to be re-done... so pretty much I want to improve my ignition system while I have my harness out of the car.

I have 4 brand new ls1 coils sitting around in my garage that I would like to use instead of going back to S13coils

S13 Redtop w/ Power FC L-jetro

Since there are 4 ignition outputs from the PFC do I need to keep the S13 ignitor or can I get rid of it and just run a wire from ECU connector directly to corresponding cylinder ls1 coilpack??

also... im assuming that the LS1 coil dwell time is not the same as stock s13sr - what is the propper dwell time and can this be changed in the PFC w/fc datalogit?

anything else I may be missing please chime in

your stock ignition is fine. your wiring most likely is poorly done. Instead of turning this into a science experiment. Just replace the broken parts, and check continuity from the Ecu coil pack driver wires (red/blue, red/green, red/yellow, red/white) to the Ignitor. Then check continuity or broken/touching wires from the 4 pin Ignitor plug to the coil pack sub-harness connector... My guess is that you have a broken wire, chafing power wire to ground, or poor motor to chassis ground.

If you are looking for new coilpacks... check out the pencil coilpacks that are available from motorcycles, (and now AEM apparently)

This looks to be a good option for you.. and with the new terminals and plugs, you could make a BRAND NEW coilpack subharness and ditch the ratted out 16year old original one you probably currently own.

but if you MUST install LS1 coilpacks.... heres some more info:

Good luck!
