I have now driven over 4,000 miles in my EX and the average mileage is 23 mpg. This is mostly (~75%) highway and some (~25%) city. I think this is really pretty good, given that Infiniti models are not known for high mileage. My G35 was pretty close to this, so I'm satisfied:)

I am at about 5500 miles and running exactly 22 mpg, same hwy/city split as you. And this has been mainly cold weather conditions.

Wow those #s are great. I'm at 2,800 miles, about 65% hilly back roads in CT/ 35% highway and getting exactly 20.

I'm at 2850 and 19.5 mpg. 50 /50 highway and back roads/city. Better than my Avalanche but not as good as my Miata.

I remember mine hanging out at about 15 in the beginning, so you'll probably get around 17/18 as it breaks in more.

2wd 18-19 60% city. I havent hit 1400 miles yet so my foot is a little ligher than normal. My Honda van gets 16-17 under same conditions and my former Vette got the same as the EX. The EX is right where I expected it to be.

First tank - 16.4
Second and third tanks - 19.high, just under 20

All based on 25% highway and the rest around town. Not optimum MPG conditions.

What I expected.

I'm now at 2000 and just drove 300 miles, mostly highway, and got 26mpg!! My average speed was 75...that's darn good.

That is REALLY good! Did anyone else catch the segment on "hypermiling" today on the CBS Early Show? It was really interesting. I am pretty good about keeping my distance and only braking when I absolutely have to (I only changed my brakes twice in 200,000 miles on my Accord). I think it is an interesting concept and want to try. But at the same time, I LOVE to accelerate hard and drive like a lunatic at times, which is against what they are teaching here:

I have almost 10K miles, mostly hwy, and consistently get close to 23. Which I amazed at, since I drive fast (80-90) a lot of the time. My FX35 never got over 21, so I"m pleased with that.

We just drove down to the low country of SC, approx. 400 miles. By using the cruise control, and keeping the speed down to around 60-65 mph, we averaged ( by the car's calculation) almost 29 mpg. Granted, a good deal was down hill, as we live at 5000'. We'll see how is going home tomorrow.

I had an EX over this past weekend (had 1600 miles on it when I got it).

I put about 350 miles on it, in a nice mix of stop and go, suburb, and highway driving. Average is 22.8. Looks like the best gas mileage can be achieved somewhere around 55. Overall I am very impressed with the car's handling, acceleration, and level of refinement (my dd is an Altima Coupe).

EXs have a final drive two ranks lower numerically than the one used on the G sedans. Works doesn't it? And, the sacrifice in acceleration is certainly acceptable wouldn't you say?

I just had an 08 G35 sedan while my EX was getting an oil change, and I wish they would have given the EX the same acceleration, I find the EX sluggish, and after the G35, it's like driving a 4 cylinder.

The G35 takes off at the line and accelerates like a sports car, reminded me of my G35 coupe.

Having this kind of acceleration wouldn't add much more to my gas bills...

The EX was developed with a different customer demographic in mind, one more sensitive to fuel economy and less interested in maximum acceleration.
Maybe they need to offer a "Sport" version with the G's final drive and the G37 Coupe's (costly) VVEL engine...

WOW! Really? And I thought the EX has great power (by comparison to my 200 hp Accord Coupe V6 anyway). I'm going to ask for the G when I have to take a loaner. I am really happy with the EX acceleration, but as Opplock48 put it, I am probably not in the sports car demographic :).

I'm up to 2087 miles and I'm getting 21.9 MPG with 80% highway and 20% city. I originally bought the vehicle to use only on weekends and keep my 2000 honda accord to be my commuter, but the gas mileage is not to bad for me...Or maybe its just so fun to drive...LOL

Frank, me too!!!! My 2000 Accord is just sitting in the driveway (you can see it a bit in my avatar picture). I used to be in love with it, and now have a hotter, more shapely young thing in my garage that I can't stop playing with. ;)
