Looks like Infiniti sold 949 EX35's last month (http://www.nissannews.com/newsrelease.do?id=405&mid=1), compared to 1,452 in March. I suppose the whole industry (http://www.autoblog.com/2008/05/01/by-the-numbers-april-2008/) is having a tough time.

WOW!!! That's around 30% drop!! Where did you get that info? I would be interested in sales of FX's also. I would bet they are down even more than that with the '09 coming out soon.

We haven't decided between the EX, FX, or Murano LE. Right now the FX looks like the best price, and I think an EX could be bought for less than the LE. Oddly that would make the LE the higher of the three.

Pluses for the EX- style, color (interior & exterior) EXclusivity, interior design, warranty. FX- size, color, rumble, warranty. Murano- style, MPG.

Minuses - EX- size, insurance, cost. FX- MPG, insurance. Murano- color selection (Ext/int).

I am not a fan of the Murano's CVT. I guess you could get use to it but I prefer a conventional automatic. The EX auto's rev matching on downshifts works well.

If you click on the underlined portions of my original post, you'll get the source info for April sales. FX included. March numbers are -> here (http://www.autospectator.com/cars/nissan-corporate/0039094-nissan-north-america-announces-march-2008-sales) <-

Be aware that March is the last month of Nissan's (and Infiniti's) fiscal year and they work real hard to get the March sales up so they can meet their goals for the year. That's part of the reason you see that big March to April drop.

You're right. Hadn't thought about that. But on the other hand the FX's should still be a bargin from now until they sell out. Trouble will be selection.

I think we will wait until the new toyota Vensa or whatever comes out to see it. More competition is better for the consumer.

Hi woozzh, did you get an insurance quote yet on the EX? I found that it is actually not that bad compared to what we are paying on our other cars (a Honda Accord and an Acura RSX). They classify it as a wagon, so I think that helps a little.

No quote as yet. My agent wants a VIN to get an accurate quote. As a matter of fact we have not even seen in person an EX. I really want to check one out before we decide.

I have done the compare thing on Edmunds trying to get a feel for the size. So far the closest I have found is the Honda CRV. They are the same width, very important since we have 7' wide doors on the carriage house (garage). The CRV is about 6" taller so I am really having trouble with the height. The EX has 2" less ground clearance so the height is now down to 4". Looks like the high point of the roofline is just behind the driver's seat, then tapers dramatically to the hatch. That makes the station wagon designation make sense. Can you stand up under the hatch when open? How tall is the top of the opening with the hatch up?

The lower ground clearance is nice as you don't need to hop up to get in, and rub the leather as you engress, is that opposite of egress??? I like this for the wife.

Like I said we will see the Toyota Versa also before we decide. We have a Dallas dealer in mind that has a d/c-chestnut EX due may 15th. We'll see.

We also test drove the CR-V, and although we got a good impression, it's a very different car. It feels like an SUV when you sit in it. The EX feels much more like a sedan. I put together some comparisons on length (http://web.mac.com/etorres/New_Voiture/Size_-_Length.html), width (http://web.mac.com/etorres/New_Voiture/Size_-_Width.html) and height (http://web.mac.com/etorres/New_Voiture/Size_-_Height.html) of several cars including the CR-V and EX -- maybe they'll let you see what other cars you're familiar with are comparable.

I found the CRV to be dangerously slow when passing cars from 50-70 with 3 adults inside. 162HP doesn't move a curb weight of 3400-3500LBs + passengers + ?? with much authority.
