View Full Version : KA idleing/ emisions issues.

Let me start of by saying that i have a 95 motor in a 91 I have deleted the egr and the vac lines under the TB and where they go to in the rear. i followed http://www.project-mayhem04.com/EGR%20Removal.html (http://www.project-mayhem04.com/EGR%20Removal.html) to remove my emisions. first i cant figure out what do i do with the larger of that vac line under the TB does that just get concected to the intake (http://www.zilvia.net/f/showthread.php?t=195674#)? if anyone has a better pic of there KA with all the emisions removed and could post it that would be a great help to me.

Now the car (http://www.zilvia.net/f/showthread.php?t=195674#) idles at like 1000rpms.. i cant figure out anything else other then the vac line that is under the TB when i put my finger over it it slows/ kills it so i think that this is controling the idle but i did also remove the egr aswell. also would the timing with the help with the idle. it seems to be running eh ok while its idleing but once i hold the throtle at 2000rpms its sputering and missing(i have some old and new gas mixed so this could be helping the problem) mind you that there is no exhaust on the car other then the headers. so to try to solve this high idle issue i tweaked down the idle screw, but that only makes it pulse some what between 500-1000rpms, im i hopeing that once i can get it to idle at the proper rpm i can then figure out why its missing weather it be the ignition being off or the cam timing(which i dont think it is but its possible)

also for some reason the car is running really rich. i have only run the car for maybe a total of 30 min and the plugs are already black. i have a brand new o2 sensor, but i have read around alot! and have found that with the removal of the egr this may cause the KA to run even richer. so what should i do to solve this problem?

and please dont tell me to serch cause thats all i have been trying to do reading other peoples issues for the past 2 days, but i havent seem to have gotten the answer that i needed from any of the other threads.

oh and something that i forgot to say that may help, the car has been sitting for about 2 years.

something else that i just remeber was that when i swaped the motors i took the exhaust (http://www.zilvia.net/f/showthread.php?t=195674#) cam and put it on the intake side of this motor. i am sure that others have heard of this cam swap with the 240's.

and i after doing some research and finding others with similar issues i changed my coolant temp sensor which wasnt reading anything and the new one now is. so that part is taken care of.
