I'm looking to buy a car. My friend has a '95 240sx for sale for $4,000 (114,000mi, leather, gold special
edition, SE 5sp, gold exterior, immaculate cond.). But, I wouldn't have the money for a turbo or engine swap.
Also, there is a guy in town selling a '90 300zx n/a for $5,500(black exterior, 5sp). Which car should I buy
and why?

Uh... I would personally go the S14. Its an SE, and thats a nice trim... You got the 5 lug, and... Thats all you really need, unless it also came with an LSD, which is a very nice option.

Personally, I wouldn't worry about the engine or turbo thing. Just learn to drive with the KA for now, its a nice engine, very torqey.

After a bit, get the suspension replaced, etc... You should know the whole route? Then go SR/Turbo.

i'd go 240 as well, but it's personal preference. plus, you're asking in a 240 board, so i think your mind's alredy made up too http://www.freshalloy.com/ http://www.freshalloy.com/

I too would go wid the s14 240! i dont know what your planning to use the car for, but i think the s14 handles better, better gas efficiency, wid jus a lil mods can outperform the 300zx too. *My oppinion*

Anyways, go wid the 240!

I'll also be adding my vote for the S14 as well. I love the 300zs, but if I were to get one, it wouldn't be an n/a z for sure (my opinion). The S14 is a great platform to build up as a sure handling, well performing dailydriver as well as a weekend toy to toss around at auto-xing events and the like. The turbo issue comes with time for most...trust me when I say that you're not the only one that doesnt have $5,000 to drop into thier S14 for turbo applications.....hell, I'm one of them myself http://www.freshalloy.com/ .....one day it will happen...one day...lol..

Nothing is special about it, it's heavy, it's underpowered... all it has going for it is that it looks almost like the twin turbo model. Make sure you put your pride aside when you get smoked by V6 Accords and Pontiac Grand Ams.

Of course, everyone here is going to vote 240 all the way!

It's going to cost you a lot more to build up a N/A 300ZX than a 240. But drive both and see which one you like better.
