What do you think the new Z's name should be?
should it be a Z or a ZX?

Z!

ZX is too complicated.

350Z? Or just Z car?

The Nissan Z will do just fine. It might not even matter cause once the Z debuts it will be the only Z known on the road. http://forums.freshalloy.com/forum/images/icons/grin.gif

"fairlady Z" should remain its name in Japan but in America it probably wouldn't go over so well (people may think it's a feminine sports car). i know you may have been joking but i just thought i'd say that http://forums.freshalloy.com/forum/images/icons/grin.gif

I agree with 2HD, once it comes to us it will be the only Z known on the road. So all those "other" z's enjoy your 15 min of fame as the Z (capital Z thank you) is on its way.

It should simply be called the Nissan Z of which we will refer to it simply as the "Z"

Depending on the price http://forums.freshalloy.com/forum/images/icons/wink.gif

If it costs more than 35K, then it should be a ZX. Otherwise, Z would suffice http://forums.freshalloy.com/forum/images/icons/grin.gif

Definitely Z, either with or without the number denoting engine size. Nissan needs to reclaim the single letter Z now, especially with the Corvette Z06 coming out. The X is what made priced the Z out of the market. And that's coming from someone whose last name starts with X, so I'm biased toward including it in the name. http://forums.freshalloy.com/forum/images/icons/grin.gif

Z

but that Z letter should be written in the manner of older kunk fu movies (IE in red sword slashes)

now that i think of it, that would be very tacky...

Nissan Z

Everyone will know it's a Nissan so it will simply be refered to as "Z"

Number-letter names are a dime a dozen.
Attaching numbers to the Z will just toss it into the crowd where the name, at least, may be lost to your average Joe.
BMW has 323/328, 528/540, 740/750, etc.
Benz has C230/280/43, CL500, ML320/430/55, E320/430/55, S430/500....do you get the idea?

Don't think the names of all these luxo cars matter?
Ferrari 360, 550, 456
Porshe 911 (though I highly doubt anyone will confuse any other car with a 911)

Okay, more realistic:
M3, S4, S2000, Z3, Z8...350Z? Doesn't quite stand out, does it.

I'm down with the "350Z" moniker... old school and keeps the Z car tradition...

Yeah...keeps the car in the tradition of eventually getting the axe. http://forums.freshalloy.com/forum/images/icons/rolleyes.gif

Just pulling your chain, DR. T.... http://forums.freshalloy.com/forum/images/icons/wink.gif I agree, this would seem to follow the conventional wisdom of Nissan's sports car nomenclature the most.

However, conventional wisdom is not what this car is about...this is a departure...a rebirth, a Renaissance, if you will, of the Nissan sports car....perhaps the the elegant simplicity of 'Z' embodies this the best......

350Z sounds good to me, maybe as the showroom name, but i think that nissan should market it in commercials simply as the 'Z'. "After being dormant for 7 years, the beast awakens, prepare for the return, return of the Nissan Z" ...and then the new Z speeds through a wall of fire and past some guys standing next to a honda, setting them on fire. hehe wishful thinking =)

When the Z32 first came out... the ad campagne was a magnified thick bond typing paper in a typewriter roller and they flashed a Z doing a powerslide through some water and a magnified paper comes on again and the letter "Z" was typed onto the paper... and the announcer says... "it's back" and the caption read "300hp"... but that was 10 yrs ago... maybe somebody has a better recollection than I do... http://forums.freshalloy.com/forum/images/icons/grin.gif

I think you're right. I still have the print advertisements which show the Z on the bond paper.

Does anyone remember the commercials for the 280ZX Turbo? They are what made the word "awesome" part of my every day vocabulary. I think the slogan was, "The 280ZX Turbo. It is awesome."
