Hmmm....

a civic is a civic is a civic......the exterior changes make it look more mundane than exciting, but from this information only than I'd say civics are old hat....its time to embrace another small import...

The Ford Street Ka looks pretty cool....its in sync with it New Edge design philosophy....if it is as cheap as a Focus (or maybe a little bit more) then it will sell fine...but I don't expect a runaway success...Also, the Ka is only sold in Europe, so the Street Ka may be confined there.

The Cessara is an improvement on the MR2; it reminds me of the very sensuous Lotus Elises....but in terms of styling I don't think roundness is "in."

To me that Civic looks completely ripped off from Toyota. They took the height profile from the Echo (ick) and then attached the shrunken front end of an Avalon. The rear looks like a mix between the Corolla and a Focus. I'm sure it'll be a fine car, but it certainly doesn't look that special or new.

The "Street Ka" looks pretty fun, though it does make me think it might be the Audi TT's equivalent of Dr. Evil's "Mini Me." That is... smaller, significantly less attractive and more likely to bite people.

The Cessara seems a bit ponderous to me. Too big for it's britches.

Nissan has nothing to fear (especially from the new Civic) the only acceptable car is the Ka convertable but the front looks like a dead fish.

Where did you get that new civic photo tbear?
Looks like a camrys rear combined with a proteges front with an echo in the middle.

well that street Ka looks like a total rip off of the TT roadster. http://forums.freshalloy.com/forum/images/icons/smile.gif and well that car isnt a performer. the ka is a little car if nissan had a micro car to compete with it they might be worried.

The wisdom is in the views above. The Civic, however, is always always worrisome to Nissan because Honda sells a boat load of them. A Civic sale is a Sentra/Altima rejection. The Civic enthusiasts, and there are many, all seem to be huge fans of the VTEC technology. Nissan would do itself some god to get the Sport Compact car crowd into the Sentra. The magazine (according to things I read on this site) is loaded with Nissan fans. Nissan America would do itself some good to get these guys some Sentras, let them trick 'em out and ultimately start converting some Civic loyalists. By the way, Civic rear looks like a cross btwn a BMW and a Camry

Well according to his own words, Dave Coleman(Engineering Editor) he's a bona fide Nissan fan and Mike Kojima (a frequent contributor) is a Nissan employee. I think SCC does the best job of covering Nissan compared to Turbo, MaxPower, etc. which are more Honda/DSM biased.

The civic photos are spy-photos by autoweek. I don't know the direct link, but I got them from http://www.vtec.net click on rumour/news. Then one of the posting on that board has it.

The streetKa and Toyota are from autozine. I don't remember the link off hand, probably it is http://www.autozine.com

I agree the StreetKa's front looks weird. The styling is just a copy and paste from Audi TT.

I have to agree, project sentra se-r,200sx se-r,Altima, 300zx, 240sx and now datsun 510 the only thing they don't have is a 2k maxima, and thats because turbo beat them to it.

Aside from the fact that it's a total TT ripoff, the Ka is pretty cool. The Cessera is OK, but nothing special; especially the front end. And for the Civic...they just keep getting more and more boring and ugly. Tall and skinny with thin Camryesque taillights just doesn't work!
