View Full Version : G35 Sports Tourer

I was thinking that Infiniti should create a U.S. Sports Tourer version of the G35 saloon. The Sports Tourer could go head-to-head with the Lexus IS300 Sportcross. The estate could use the Skyline GT saloons V-6 engines in 2.5 and 3.5 litre, with power ranging from 212 th 256 hp. The Sports Tourer could have the same face as the saloon, but more distinct like the Mercedes-Benz C-Class.

Question: Does anyone have Photoshop?

A station wagon G35 would be great. I love the practicality and the stealth. Audi has it right. The US S6 is only available in wagon. Then of course there is the euro RS6 with a 450hp twin turbo V8. BMW only offers the 3 series station wagon with the 2.5 liter engine and the 540 wagon only comes in auto.

I've heard wagons are making a comeback so maybe we'll see a G35 wagon. Is there a Skyline wagon in Japan?

Check out the Nissan Stagea wagon, this is the wagon version of the Skyline. It would be very awkward to have a car called "Skyline Wagon" so they named the Stagea as a completely different model. The Stagea has been around for quite a while, the new model Stagea was released last year shortly after the release of the V35 Skyline.

The interior of the two vehicles are almost identical with the exception of the fold down rear/passenger seats on the Stagea and HUGE! cargo space. Exterior styling is very different from the Skyline, but they share the same chasis and platform.

The engine compartment is a different story, the Stagea has 3 engine choices:
</font> <font size="2" face="Verdana, Arial[/img]1) VQ30DD (same as the one in the V35 Skyline 300GT)
</font> <font size="2" face="Verdana, Arial[/img]2) VQ25DD (also the same as the one in V35 Skyline 250GT)
</font> <font size="2" face="Verdana, Arial[/img]3) VQ25DET (this is where things get very interesting) Turbo charged VQ25 engine producing 280 ps and 41.5kgm @ 3200rpm) Woohoo! images/icons/shocked.gif That's +30% Power & +50% Torque compared to the base VQ35DD unit.

*Now imagine similar turbo system utilized on a VQ35 engine in the US. Calculated power yield on a VQ35DET system would yield 340ps and 390kgm!! images/icons/shocked.gif *

Both VQ25DD and VQ25DET are offered in 4WD variant. There are no words yet from Nissan of America whether or not the Stagea will ever see light in North America, but it doesn't seem likely at this point. If the G35 sells very well in its first year, Nissan might consider introducing a new model. At the moment, Infiniti's focus is luxury and performance, a wagon doesn't fit in well with this principle.

Anyhow, enough rant, here is the line to the Stagea website:
