Like always: it depends. What sort of response do you want? How much lag can you tolerate? What are your power goals?

And to answer those questions, you need to know what goal you have for your car. Is it a drag monster? A road course car? Something for autocross? Street only?

can anyone show some compressor maps or give links to. also do most turbos have some sort of oil circuit running through them as well as an water one too. bu- for a more specific responce i am looking to spool up by 2.5k and max efficiency out arround 5-6k. w/ about 350-400RWHP/TQ. also the curve should be a fast climber,

www.turboneticsinc.com (http://www.turboneticsinc.com) has Garrett compressor maps. Mitsubishi maps are floating around, there are quite a few at www.stealth316.com (http://www.stealth316.com) .

All turbos use oil for lubrication and cooling. Some turbos additionally have water cooling.

As for your desired characteristics...well, you're going to have a difficult (if not impossible) time finding a turbo that will flow 350whp and still spool up by 2.5K. Possibly something in the T3/T4 family with a ball-bearing center will be the closest you can get, but you won't get full boost by 2.5K -- for a turbo capable of 350-400 whp, I'd say 4K is more reasonable for a ball-bearing unit.

who drops the hammer at 2.5K anyway. Asad is right, there is no perfect size. I like my t4/t3 because it has what I'm looking for, good response and good flow and if it breaks I can get it rebuilt for 150. It's a street turbo set-up, and it's great for the street.
