I was driving on northbound 680 at about 2am on Saturday night when two Silvias passed me doing 90-100. I quickly sped up and followed the one to the left. We had to pick our way through a little bit of traffic and the one to the right got left behind. We got into a clearing and I went WOT and caught up to the Silvia, but had to cut back behind him because of a car up ahead in my lane. I got behind him and then switched lanes and went back to WOT. As I pulled even with him, I noticed I was at redline in 4th which is 140 mph. I shifted into 5th and pulled a few lenghths on him before he shut down. We slowed down to about 80 and gave each other the thumbs up. He had his girl with him (MY wife would never let me race to 140+ http://www.freshalloy.com/ ). Then the second Silvia catches up on my left side and guns it a little bit. I downshifted into 3rd and pulled instantly just for fun. Unfortunately, didn't have time to go chat so didn't follow them going 580 East.

This was an extremely fun race and if either of you Silvias is on this forum, please reply. My only mod is a downpipe from the turbos.

Cool race, so are you saying that silvias are slow or that they are equal to the rx7? Have you raced a twin-turbo 300ZX lately? If so what was the outcome.
Peace.

ok, the main reason of me signing up on this forum and posting was to get ahold of the two drivers I raced. I thought the story part might be entertaining, guess not....

BTW, go to rx7forum.com and check out the kills section. There are many posts that are not RX-7 or even Mazda related. I also own a 1998 SE-R as my daily driver.

Peace.<font size="2" face="Verdana, Arial[/img]Thanks. The two silvias I raced were definitely slower at high speeds but the one hung with me pretty closely until over 120. I have never raced a last gen 300ZX twin-turbo. Stock vs stock, I should have the win but that's just the numbers game. I actually don't race that much, it's just when I see two cars blasting past me, the self-control ends..... http://www.freshalloy.com/

****in' Nissan People ... Let the guy have his say. He's looking for the peole he raced, you numb-nuts. RX7s are blindingly fast, but unfortunately they are not reliable and it takes a ton of skill to tune a rotary right.

The interior is th best anywhere (Supra is close)
Good kills.

Thats the only car I race on the GT2 (Playstation) ... I can beat most other cars with it too.

Nice car dude. I have a lot of respect for Mazdas. I love Rx7's and would probably get one except for the fact that they need constant care. the only rx7 I've been in was a friend of mine - Roh - and the thing that stands out the most is, with 5 people packed into this little car, he managed to lift the front wheels from the stoplights. I remember being packed in the middle of the backseat, feeling the hand of God slap me back in my seat and seeing sky out the windshield. That car was nuts.

The only bad thing about it was Roh would have it in the workshop every 5000 ks or so. Horribly unreliable and temperamental. But fun. http://www.freshalloy.com/

Another friends Rx3 did a 10.49 a few weeks ago. I've been in that and I am genuinely scared.

Cheers,

Joe

I do have to ask the same question, how did you know they were both genuine Silvias and not just 240sx with Silvia badges or something? This story would have made more sense coming from someone in Japan maybe. Sounded like a fun race though.

I know a guy up in Buford, GA that has a Silva that make 320HP to the wheels (not the fly, the wheels). He has beaten a Z06, I'd love to see you race him! http://www.freshalloy.com/

WOW, I gotta move to where you guys live. I dont think there's one Silvia in my area. Nissan did have an S15 or two out here for testing, but Im sure they're crushed by now. We do, however have a few turbo charged 240's and a few with engine swaps, but no real Silvia's. http://www.freshalloy.com/

Well, OK, not being much of a Nissan person (despite owning a SE-R), I might have jumped the gun on the Sylvia call. They did have Sylvia badges - Doh! (smacking forehead and strapping flame suit on). It was a fun race and they were not stock 240SXs, that's for sure. Killing a stock 240 would not be impressive. http://www.freshalloy.com/

BTW, thanks for the compliments. I think the 3rd gen RX-7 is one of most beautiful cars ever made and have wanted one for 9 years. Just purchased mine in December 2001.

I can smoke new Mustang GT's and hang pretty close with LS-1 Camaros, but not Z06 territory. I would need open intake, cat-back, and raise boost from 10 to 12 psi for that. Soon.... http://www.freshalloy.com/
