hey guys...i'm currently looking for a decent top to bottom flow intercooler...and was wondering what you guys think of a 87-91 supra Turbo intercooler, top to bottom flow with specs of:

18.5 x 12 x 3

do any of you guys know whats the maximum efficiency this intercooler is capable of? say if i was to look at 300whp, would this intercooler be good?

Yea... I was looking at a supra mkiii intercooler, cuz my friend was gonna give me his. Some website said that it had 50-60% efficiency and a boost leak of 3psi at 7psi.
The only way I can justify using this IC is if you are gonna get a z31 turbo (7psi) and no fuel. You could just lose those 3psi, and run a safe 4psi.
But really... I declined the intercooler, cuz it sucked.

you're talkin about this one right?

daym, if it has 3 psi drop, thats pretty bad...can you find that site again?

"Intercooler Efficiency 3psi drop@6.8 psi".

alright, last question to all the intercooler pros out there...what is the cause of pressure drop? is it just too much restriction? can you fix pressure drop at all?

We did one on a Talon and it worked REALLY well at 16psi. Very large increase over stock.2.25 hard piping all the way helped too. Its not the best cooler, but if you can pick one up dirty cheap it is very good upgrade over stock Talon or SR cooler.

Oh yeah...I forgot one thing. If you have someone to TiG for you a better idea is to get 2 1st gen Talon ICs and weld them in parallel(best to make new endtanks with 2.25" tubes). I've seen sub 12 sec quarters with this setup.
