Ok. I'm about to buy a '97 KA24DE w/ auto tranny and all accesories, harness and ECU. My car came w/ a manual, and I was wondering the difference between the ECU's. Can one be made to work with the wrong tranny? Or do I have to find a manual ECU? If so, is there anyone out there that wants to trade an '97 KA auto ECU for a '97 manual ECU? Or maybe where I can find a not so expensive ECU for the car? Just need a stock one. Thanks in advance,

Sean

I don't know about a the ecu for a 97 but for a 93 the auto tranny has its own seperate computer. You should find out before you buy the motor and tranny.Luckily i called a few different junk yards and was told about the seperate tranny computer buy one of them. The "Nissan expert" that i bought mine from did not have the computer. I made him order me one before i would accept the tranny from him.

I have no intention of keeping the auto tranny, I just need the motor. The tranny will be for sale. I just wanted to know if I could run it w/ the auto ecu 'till I could track down a manual ECU, or if I had to find one before I could drive it. Anybody have any clue?

Ok. I found a '97 manual ECU at a yard, only 100 bucks! I was expecting more. My last question is, how do I go about modifying the harness where it goes to the dash so my instruments work. I already have the DOHC tach in place. Thank's for the help guys. Later,

Sean
