View Full Version : Are 95 and 96 transmissions the same?

My 2nd and 3rd gear syncros are in pretty bad shape on my 1996 but I can't really have any downtime since it's my daily driver. I may buy a '95 transmission for cheap with pretty high miles and rebuild it (my first time doing something like this), then just swap in the rebuilt 95 for the thrashed 96. Are the sensors and wires and stuff the same on both?
Thanks in advance!

Looking forward to smooth shifting,

Edit: I'll expand to ask if ALL s14 transmissions will have the same wireing, incase I can't get the '95 I'm looking at.

Should be exactly the same. However, the first thing you should do is buy some Redline MT90 or Mobil 1 Synthetic 75w-90 and change your tranny oil. It's like I have a brand new tranny.

Thx, I was hoping they were the same.
I tried redline mt-90 and then mobil 1 synthetic 75w-90, they only helped a little http://forums.freshalloy.com/ubbthreads/images/icons/frown.gif
