View Full Version : $2000 reasonable for complete SR??

02-03-2003, 02:20 PM
Guys I am contemplating buying an SR for an S13 project and I was offered a complete one with ignitor, ecu, uncut harness, tranny, AC compressor, PS pump, MAFS, for $2000 and I can pick it up locally. The motor looks to be in very good condition. I lifted the valve cover and it looks spotless. What do you guys think??

is the seller trustworthy? that would be my first concern. private party or business?

sounds good..

If it is complete, clean, and all components are in good condition, then $2000 is a great price IMO.

I got to drive your s14 last night... all I can say is http://forums.freshalloy.com/ubbthreads/images/icons/grin.gif http://forums.freshalloy.com/ubbthreads/images/icons/ooo.gif http://forums.freshalloy.com/ubbthreads/images/icons/grin.gif

Blacktop or redtop?

Hell yea thats a good price, and no delivery cost to boot. Good for you. I would do a compression or leak down test before you purchase the motor. I looked at two bad motors before i found a good one.

Chit, I wouldn't pay $200 for an SR. Weak. Why you want to go that route mang? Terrible.

[/QUOTE] yeah ... i thought you sig said you werent gay !

2000 is not a bad price , as long as one of your best friends didnt already tell yout that he could get you for 200-500 cheaper .....

The seller is a friend of mine and yes he is trustworthy. I will do a comp. check first though, of course.
Russ- The reason I am going sr is cost and demand. I am doing this car as an investment, it will be a complete package for sale after completion.
Charlie- If you wanna go down south next sunday to pick up the S13 with me, we could venture on down to the shop down there with motors to look at what they have and pricing etc. If you can get me a better deal on a motor as cklean as this one, I'll do it.

My area importer can get the exact setup for $1,800- in Illinois.
He's in Florida $2,000 ain't bad considering you get the harness and ignitor+ no shipping.
I think DJElectrique in Japan said SR blocks are like $300.
So what was your point about bragging you can find it for $1,500?

02-05-2003, 08:33 AM
lol, actually you can get entire SR's for $300 if you shop around. An entire drivable Silvia K's can be had for the same amount though, but its all irellavent for this thread.

well who said I was braggin??? Another place, http://nippon-motors.com has a whole setup for 1450 right now, but no harness/intercooler etc.

Sorry to hear the car is gone. Can't wait to see what you can do with an SR though.

It's all good.... I will build another one to rival the S14. It may not be as fast but it sure will look sick as hell.

Psi, do you sleep man?, wean yourself off the freshalloy for goodness sakes

I'm also contemplating a S13 project, but I really don't want to give up the S14. But, if the time and money is right, anything is for sale. If you're looking for a S13, there are a couple of 89's down here in Miami for $900 running.

actually zymdust.... I get up at 5:15am to go to the gym everyday hehe. I work out for an hour and a half then go run 4 miles.
As for an S13... I already found one, I am picking it up this weekend. The deal I am getting will blow everyone away.... I will not disclose the details until the car is actually purchased hahah. I wouldnt want anyone to recognize the car and snatch it up before I can get there!
