View Full Version : 240Z clutch + KAT = no

I just wanted to post for anyone thinking of using the 240Z clutch with boost...don't. Mine's slips at just 4-psi as soon as boost hits on my custom KAT with a T04.

The torque rating for the clutch has got to be well less than 200-ft/lbs. It may not even be any stronger than stock.

heh. Well, that kinda makes sense.

Horsepower (SAE) 150 BHP @6,000 RPM
Torque 148 FT-Lbs @4,400 RPM

What lead you to think you can use a 240Z clutch??? Didn't you see the big thread that went on between me and S13Sean?

Thought you would have picked up some clues on clutch setup...

If you wanted cheap, should've gone with the truck flywheel (junkyard) and 280ZX Turbo pressure plate and disk.

Man, my stock clutch in my old black hatch held up to 5psi for a long time. That sucks.

Total mileage on 240Z clutch: ~12,000
600 of which are turbo

The clutch couldn't have worn that much in the year before I put the turbo on. I don't remember entering any burnout contests. It never even felt that strong to begin with actually. It seemed barely up to the task of the stock KA power.

I don't recommend it at all.
