Who has removed the secondary butterfly? What are your thoughts on doing this to a NA KA Engine?

when i put my direct port nos system in i ripped it all out, saved about 1lb of weight, make sure you block the holes going from intake runner to intake runner, i used the rod that controlled the butterfly valves and just cut them and then notched them with a file and tapped and drilled a small unc 4-40 screw to act as a set screw and used some lock tight on it...it has stayed put for 3 years now so it works.....it did not seem to make a difference? i would guess that a little loss or torque on low end, and a small gain on hp up top. i could not feel anything by the seat of the pants though...

I have idle issues.....cams really good...but sounds kinda cool.....otherwise I'd do it again.

I did the removal and did feel a difference. The motor seemed to rev slightly quicker, but a broader torque band giving better drivability was the greatest improvement. I did not feel any degradation in idle, despite what is said in the FAQ. Be prepared for a grueling intake manifold removal, unless your motor is already out of the car!
