I'm looking to buy a catback system for an S14DET and I want the quietest, most discreet 3" stainless steel system I can find with an emphasis on discreet. Which do you think is the better choice with the above mentioned criteria. The HKS Dragger II or the Blitz Nur Spec Racing.

of those 2, dragger 2 i think is quieter. hard to say, both are pretty loud

Of all the turbo exhaust systems available which do you think is the quietest?

i think dousan is got the right idea, RS*R has some pretty quiet exhausts. Every company does pretty much, but the two you said arent quiet at all. they also have pretty large canisters, which isnt descreet either.

id say go for anything thats JDM (not JdM tYtE) but like jasma-certified. those should be pretty quiet

I thought the Dragger II was JASMA certified.

it"s not a 3" but I got the apexi Gt spec (sr20det no cat) and with the silencer bolt in it's VERY quiet I would even compare that to a stock exhaust with the ka

The only thing I don't like is the clearance I'll try to take some pics to show you.

I wouldnt compare it to stock with the silencer in tho.

Jim, there is NO WAY you can be discreet with a stainless steel cat-back exhaust; a 3" (most likely 80mm/3.14" exhaust if it's Japanese-made) is not at all a small exhaust, and no one would bother making an exhaust that is discreet if it is from Japan.

That being said, I can vouch that the 5Zigen Border III with 70mm piping (2.96" or so) is VERY quiet and is more of a street exhaust than anything else!

(ignore the stupid license plates)

Another quiet 3" exhaust would be the Blitz Realize TT. It sounds basically stock, but the only down fall would be the tip is on the larger side.

Nice DD, but what is it doing in this thread?

04-04-2003, 03:14 AM
quiet? RS*R. very quiet, good power, great quality, 100% pleased. extremely streetable.

getting a new one shortly (exmagII i think)

04-04-2003, 05:18 AM
haha yea i used to have an RSR on my integra...it was sweet...do u know when they are going to be coming out again?

04-04-2003, 10:20 AM
DD is a wonderfully musical and quiet exhaust *wink* *wink*...Just thought I'd post, I really like my exhaust and recomend it. And w/ the silencers it's not to bad even on an NA KA

not 80mm but dual 60mm i like the Fujitsubo Legalis R twin tip dual piping exhaust

Thanks for all the reply's and pictures. Much appreciated. I think my best bet is the RS-R but don't know if I can wait 2-3 months for them to become available. Can anyone shed some light on the sound quality of the N1 Dual. After looking at more pictures of this system I think I could live with the looks. Also, can anyone verify the pipe diameter of the N1 Dual before the resonator. I was told it's only 70mm but others have said it's 80mm.

Thanks again for all the responses.

What exhaust is pictured on the white S13 with the KADET plates?

your joking right? it says right in what you quoted!!

04-04-2003, 02:45 PM
Alex--you can't just say any jasma certified exhaust,
you should know by now 240 owners demand you put the info on a silver plate and hand it over like this:

HKS--drager2, legal muffler
Blitz--Realize TT
RSR--Ex Mag
Fujitsubo--any legal series
Most jdm only exhaust are from
small shops which is NOT jasma certified
so only the "big" companies will have jasma.

Actually I was serious. I went to Heavy Throttles site to look for pricing on the 5Zigen system and the pictures I saw were of a bullet muffler not an oval as shown on the white S13. That's why I asked.

Jim, to avoid confusion, I'll list the most popular 5Zigen exhausts for SR20DET:

Fire 5Zigen (turbo version has smaller resonator), versus stock:

Border III w/70mm piping:

Border 304 Max w/80mm piping (race only!):

04-04-2003, 05:46 PM
Which exhausts out there are NOT Jasma or in the "Race Only" category besides 304 Max?

04-04-2003, 05:55 PM
there's SO MANY
as sam mentioned a lot of small shops are not jasma approved.
look in option2 and all the small shops, could be race use/non-jasma

04-04-2003, 06:07 PM
Oh, I meant exhausts that are regularly available here or popular here, like the ones in autoimaging.com, phase2, etc.

04-04-2003, 06:17 PM
Jasma is a japanese rating most of the stuff sold here in the states is built here in the states, and there for would not be jasma rated

04-04-2003, 06:25 PM
Ya, but a lot of 3" SR20det exhausts that these shops sell are from Japan and not advertised in U.S. big brand(HKS, Greddy) catalogs. Like Greddy DD for example...would this be a "SR"(street regulation) or "RO"(race only)?

04-04-2003, 06:32 PM
I know richard aka jdm rice has one on his SR, from what I hear they are VERY loud. So probably a RO but I plan to keep my silencers in untill the track w/ my NA KA

04-04-2003, 09:15 PM
JASMA = Japan Automotive Sport Muffler Association, sort of the equivilant of CARB except that it is a private group that regulates exhaust noise and is deemed legal by VIA (Vehicle Inspection Association) for safety checks every year or two (can't remember the specifics).

That being said, JASMA is useful b/c exhausts rated SR are rated to be under 95db for use on streets in Japan; certainly useful when one is looking for an exhaust that is 95db or lower (as a reference).

I know JASMA is useless for legal purposes in the U.S., but it is useful to figure out which exhausts are loud and which are silent. One prime example is the Border 304 Max I have.... without the silencer the exhaust is SOOOO LOUD that I get a headache just by driving it under WOT for about 30 seconds.

My Trust full 3" Tr Evo II is RO. http://forums.freshalloy.com/images/graemlins/smile.gif
and man does it sound tough.
