View Full Version : M30 LSD worth getting?

I was at the junkyard today and i came across an infiniti M30. I was wondering if anyone has used these LSD and if they need different output shafts?
From 240sx.org

The M30 and Q45 diff's also work with the same basic modifications I mentioned earlier. The big thing to look for is the flanges, they need to be the 3 sets of 2 or you will have to replace them

Anyone have any experience with these? By the way, the clear front markers from the M30 bolt up to the 89-90 240, i grabbed them, and the guy didnt even charge me.

the info on that page is WRONG WRONG WRONG.

M30 diff is like Z31 diff. Does NOT bolt in. Not even close.

That sucks, it looked like a z31 engine with just an infiniti intake plenum on it(vg30?). Wonder how much work it is to get it to fit, since im sure they will sell it to me cheap, because i bought a mint condidtion starion FMIC for $20

You'd have to swap the internals into your current diff case, which is pretty expensive to get set up properly. Who knows whether your stock output shafts will work -- the M30 output shafts definitely WON'T work because there are none -- it looks like the axles go directly into the diff. I took some pictures of an M30 rear end last year, I'll put them back up for you to see how different they are.

EDIT: heh I already had them up!

Things to note are the front diff mounting (4 bolts around the semi-trailing-arm "mustache" bar) and the output shafts.

yep M30 is the nissan leopard. its a really neat car as its a transitional vehicle. from Z31 parts to newer design..

for the sake of ease. just stay with 95 J30 diff.
