Took me a couple of hours. It looks abit ghetto but it works. I first did the parts in Cardboard then traced and cut out the aluminum. Better than sucking underhood heat

awesome! good work, i was thinking about doing the same thing on my s14 to keep out the nasty hot air, great idea with the cardboard,, :-D

I have to confess I did a ghetto thing too, except I enlarged the hole underneath the filter, and used dryer ducting to catch air from below the bumper. http://forums.freshalloy.com/images/graemlins/smile.gif

Blocking off the AIV will eventually lead to the reeds and housing rusting out. I doubt it helps emissions either.

You can toss away the hose and put a breather filter on the nipple. K&N makes cute ones, although they cost close to $20. Here's an photo from www.summitracing.com (http://www.summitracing.com):

Summit part number might be
KNN-62-1340 or KNN-62-1360 or something else.
(I can't remember the size of the AIV nipple)

I'll end up buying an AutoZone special. They are like 7 or 8 bucks. I use one on my valve cover breather... works well enough.
