This came with my car since I bought it, but I have no idea what it does or what it is. It connects to a hose that leads to the brake booster. On the shiny crome part it says QP and then below that it says quick power.

possibly a fitting for a vacuum/ boost gauge??

now that you added the extra pic i'm not so sure. . . can you get a closeup of the gold cap on the end??

It comes out blurry when I try to take a closeup. It sucks in air at the tip.

Anyone else??? This board seems to be dying!! Not as many posts as before!

It may be an emmissions valve similar to the one on the following website.

I wouldn't go as far as to say that the forum is dying....it might be that most don't know what it is so why waste time typing I don't know....maybe?

just no clue what that hose is

I'm just going to put the stock hose that was there. Because I have no idea what that does. Thank you guy's for the effort. http://www.freshalloy.com/

the hose that leads out of the brake booster supplies the vacuum to the booster (duh, watch me say something obvious! http://www.freshalloy.com/) does that weird hose replace the hose that leads to the engine so the booster doesnt get boost from the manifold any more? if so i guess it could've just been done to disable power steering but still be able to pull the rod out with vacuum in order to measure and adjust it. if the new hose is just T-ed off the stock hose, it's probably just for a vacuum gauge or something. maybe there wa something else running off of engine vacuum. dont leave it open or anything, it'll cause a vacuum leak.

how about 2 red LED's instead...with a light pipe so they look like lasers...

It's not, it's plumbed into the brake booster line, which is a source of manifold vacuum...so in essence it's connected to the intake manifold.

I fitted one of these devices to my car(after fitting a new chip) and it sorted the cold off boost perfomance out, before the device the car wasn't smooth to drive but this to my amazement sorted it out, but I'm not sure about any fuel savings though, but it does tidy up the CO% at idle.

BWAAAAHAHAHAHAHA!

"The most serious limitation then is that the flow of combustion in the sprayer of the carburetor increases due to the suction but not at the rate corresponding to the flow of air."

So, Do our Fuel injected engines have "combustion sprayers"?

Seriously, unhook that thing...it's nothing more than an adjustable vacuum leak.

It works on my car, so why should I remove it, it also smoothed out the low down torque and I saw the difference on the dyno chart. Between 800 - 2500rpm it is effective and soon after that rev range the turbo hits 18psi and it closes itself.

So i'm off to remove it and make my car feel like a sack of **** when its cold.....yeah right.

Hey UK200SX

That's cool that it worked for you.

Your new chip must have been making the engine run really rich(high CO levels and all) before the boost kicks in. A vacuum leak would help this out by adding more O2 to the mix until the intake track pressurized enough to shut the valve.

Anyway, I don't think my slow NA car needs any more vacuum leaks... http://www.freshalloy.com/

Don't carb engines usually run rich at lower RPMs? This might then actually help them some... ?

but for EFI..

I think it's B.S.!!! Especially for a turbocharged motor.

ROTFLOL... That website is one funny site... I keep on laughing at it's poor attempt at answering the questions...

This device, from what I understood of it on the site is like what someone said. An adjustable vacuum leak. This allows unmetered air to be introduced into the engine system when there is high vacuum, usually at idle. What it does is to lean out the air/fuel mixture by introducing more air for combustion. But that can cause a problem when the ECU sees a leaner mixture from the 02 sensor and tries to compensate by dumping more fuel. So the leaner air/fuel mixture means it's more power, cleaner tailpipe emission.

As for the better cold start, yes, it would make sense. Cold start would have the ECU dump more air and fuel, and if the aftermarket chip programing is not so good, then the extra air would be better.

are these guys nuts or what...and for $150 bucks... ha ha ha ha hah hahahahahahahaahahahahhah

guys we have to start selling after market car crap...

i want to come up with the lazer tail light system...where the photons from the laser push the car ahead..thus saving fuel on the POTENCY stroke....

Yeh but real lasers are expensive, so you'll want to make it using appliance bulbs from old fridges hahahaha
