I own a 93 hatch se and was wondering if my ka had a butterfly valve in it or not? I remember reading somewhere that not all the ka's had a butterfly valve in them. I was also wondering if anybody has ever removed their's before and if it made a difference?? http://www.freshalloy.com/

yep..i have a sohc... they were a pain to get out...and plugging the holes left over was a pain as well..i used the original bar that was connecting them all together...cut it into peices and then filed a slot into it and then tapped into the intake manifold with unc 4-40 screws and held it all together with locktite..it has held together for 3 years of track and road use..

Butterfly valves (better known as swirl control valves) inside the intake manifold on the bottom: http://home.socal.rr.com/mav1178/Cars/MyCar/EHMani4.jpg

S13's have this. S14's do not. Sunbelt Performance says it gives about a 3-4HP gain if removed, but removal is a pain.
